Hawks go more than a quarter without a basket
Posted Jan 26 2009 9:07PM

MIAMI -- The Atlanta Hawks went nearly 13 1/2 minutes without a field goal in the first half of their game against the Miami Heat on Monday night.

Atlanta missed 13 straight shots and committed 10 turnovers during the equivalent of more than a quarter. The Hawks' 27 points at halftime were the fewest in franchise history.

Marvin Williams and Flip Murray each were 0-for-3, with both having dunk attempts blocked for good measure.

In all, Miami blocked five shots during the drought in which they took a 12-11 deficit and turned it into a 33-17 lead.

Williams' 3-pointer with 5:57 left in the first quarter gave the Hawks a 12-11 lead. Miami scored 22 of the game's next 27 points, and Joe Johnson's reverse layup with 4:32 left in the half drew Atlanta to 33-19.

By halftime, the Heat led 46-27. Dwyane Wade was 8-for-10 from the floor for Miami; the Hawks, meanwhile, as a team were 8-for-26.

It matched the fewest number of field goals Miami allowed in a first half in franchise history.

Our offense can be horrible at times, it can get pretty painful to watch but I know that we're going to get better.

Were Allen Iverson and Rasheed Wallace playing for the Hawks?

seems like the Hawks have quite a few scorers on their team. why do they have trouble scoring?

Give the Heat some credit, they play pretty good defense.
