Given that the spurs maintain their 1 seed, which I think they have a good shot at doing, they would meet the lakers in the first round, being that LA could wind up getting the 8 spot.

Minnesota vs. Spurs.

Lakers are done.

This would be how many times now that they meet in the playoffs? 4?

I think Denver is Surging with their new coach, and has a good chance at the 8th seed. I hope both Minny and the Lakers miss the playoffs, and not because I think Denver will be easier than them to handle in the 1st round; I think it would be justice.

with the way the lakers are playing, i wouldn`t count on it, though it`d be sweet to get even for last year. i think the nuggets have a pretty good chance of taking the 8th seed.

I realy hope and think them Fakers won't make it and I will be laughing my ass off even harder than I am right now, but on the other hand if we would meet them I am defenitely going to laugh at all the bastards right there at the Staple again.

I hope the Lakers back their azz into the eight spot. Then the Spurs could take them out behind the wood shed and wup their azz like they did Memphis last season. It will be a sweep, as long as Horry doesn't let his feelings get in the way like he did last year.

I don't know, playing the Lakers is almost anticlimactic nowadays. No one from there old teams is still around except Kobe. You just don't get the same thrill beating Bryant-Mihm-Odom as you do Bryant-Shaq-Fisher.

I do. I bask in Laker disappointment, regardless of how insignificant it is to SA. To me, payback has not been administered yet.

George Karl and Doug Moe(2 ex Spur people) have Denver playing great like last year, I think they get 7th or 8th spot. Minn can move up, I think LA is about finished.

I don't think the Lakers will make the playoffs - and that would be sweet revenge!

Does anyone know the last time the Lakers missed the playoffs?

slayermin is right.

The Spurs may have to deal out their revenge to players on an individual basis (deal with Kobe in LA, take out Shaq in Miami, and let Fisher rot in Golden State), but the debt to rest of the city has yet to be paid. The Spurs fans still deserve to have the chance to tell Lakers fans 'I told you so' after last years debacle.

Watching them fall apart just isn't good enough. I want the Spurs kick them while they are down.

Normally I wouldn't condone such a thing...but it's the effing Lakers.

Spurs are better team but I think Suns will end up with slightly better record.

Couldn't agree more! I hope the Lakers do make the playoffs as I love to see Kobe :cry

No it will either be Denver or Memphis in the 1st round.

we can assume that it might be spurs and den, la, and minn in the first round, and spurs vs suns in the wcf, but who do you think the spurs second round match up could be?

Spurs vs Denver

Spurs win 3-1

I'd go with Denver to get #8. They've been much better of late and have a home-heavy schedule (favorable) the rest of the way while LA and Minnesota still have some road work to do. Assuming that Denver does get in, though:

Spurs vs Denver

Spurs win 3-1

Are you talking about the season series? A playoff series is now a best-of-7, so 3-1 wouldn't quite get it done.

This would be how many times now that they meet in the playoffs? 4?

Actually, if the Spurs and Lakers got together again in the playoffs, it would be the 11th time since 1982 and 5 straight years. (SA and LA have played in 82 (WCF), 83 (WCF), 86 (1st), 88 (1st), 95 (WCSF), 99 (WCSF), 01 (WCF), 02 (WCSF), 03 (WCSF), and 04 (WCSF)).

Take a look at the laker schedule remaining. It ain't pretty. It's safe to say the lakers will not be making the playoffs.
