And that has nothing to do with the Suns because the Lakers would probably still beat them.

It has something to do with Bynum being a douchebag fucktard who plays dirty. How does KG get criticized for picking on smaller players, Bynum is the fuckin king of that shit.

Please Bynum, take a page out of Shawn Livingston's book.

thank you. Wishing injury is taking it over the line and I got a lil overboard, but it's annoying that Laker fans don't shut up about KG jawing at smaller players when their center is only physical with smaller players.

I'm gonna go out on a limb (not really) and say Bynum would not have committed that foul on Shaq.

Also, if that foul was committed on Kobe or LeBron, the player would have been ejected at the time and suspended for sure. Lets see if either happens to Bynum.

It is a game of pussies now i would admit, back in the day if Bynum pulled that shit the coach would have sent the 12th man in there to reciprocate. I remember back in the day Mark Madsen gave a player a hard foul. Pop sent in Kevin Willis and PJ immediately subbed out Madsen.

I won't call it dirty, but Bynum was incredibly lazy and wreckless on that play. He didn't bother moving his feet, but instead just stuck his arm into Wallace's chest. He should at least get fined, not for intent, but being wreckless on that play. He's responsibly for that injury.

it was not malicious by any means. looked more like he was wayyyy out of place to make a defensive play, and was trying to hold him back from an easy bucket. it obviously wasnt a smart way to hold him back, but it didnt appear malicious at all.

Findog
01-28-2009, 06:44 PM
It wasn't dirty, it was just being out of place and poor body control. It will be interesting to see what Stern does. When Dirk ff'd Kirelenko last year, he was suspended because he exhibited poor body control, even though there was no malicious intent. Bynum wasn't trying to hurt the guy, but if that's the standard that's been established, he should be suspended.

Yeah it shocked the hell out of me when I found out 40% of his lung was collapsed. Thats insanely ridiculous it takes a lot of force and determination to do that. Hell you could hit some in the chest with a bat hard with only 1 hit and it still not guaranteed the lung would collapse.

What does being good have to do with a bad foul?

DPG21920
01-28-2009, 08:46 PM
Laker fans need to "pull out" of each others asses and realize it was a bad foul. This in no way means people think the Lakers suck, this is a thread about one foul that was obviously a hard foul.

You know what is going to happen right. Bynum is not going to be suspended (WGAF) and then he is going to hard foul someone next game and they will leave and he will get a reputation regardless of intent.

hhml
01-28-2009, 08:55 PM
Bynum's not a dirty player. That was a flagrant for sure. But if he does get suspended, shall be it (although I don't think he should be). He was just slow to come over and was out of position to make the defensive play, so he chose the lazy way and just reached. It does look like he tries to reach up and block the ball just when Wallace was about to jump, but Wallace jumped too quick and he ended up being elbowed. Bynum did come over to check if he was ok afterwards. That does not look like a dirty play with the purpose to injure.

Seems some of thi shate because Bynum is playing well ...was flagrant i dont think he should be suspended but it's borfderline enough to where i wouldnt argue vehemently against that there was no intent and it was not at the head ..
On a similar note i think that refs should not take teh injury in to account many players have gotten hurt severly on normal plays others not hurt on plays ten tims worse than what bynum did ...i am notr a Shaq fan (even when on the Lakers) but he always got ridiculous flagrant calls based on his size even when there was no malicious intent plus he always got mauled inside (though many of his best moves were offensive fouls ask Dikembe)

What do you want Laker fan to admit?

That Bynum is some kind of thug on the court delivering reckless hard fouls every night? He's not. He just made a lazy foul on Wallace that had the unfortunate effect of injuring him badly. It's basketball, shit like this happens. There was no malice or intent on Bynum's part, which is why he went to Charlotte's team bus after the game to apologize and why he tried to see Wallace at the hospital.

Should he get a suspension? Maybe one game, but anymore than that is excessive and unwarranted.

Ok..let me get this straight.

Bell, purposely "tried" to injure Kobe by grabing his neck and pulling him down. Fortunately, Kobe is tough enogh to sustain injury.

Bynum knocks down Wallace, with no intent to injure, but unfortunately, Wallace lungs collapse. Keep in mind, noone even thought about a lung collapse till the next day.

So you think a clothesline to the head with intent to injure is less dangerous then a forarm to a chest with no intent.

It maybe deserved a game just because it was unnecessary, plus I hate to say it Nash flopped to make it look worse.

Probably. It was a combination of being a careless foul AND injuring someone, if one or the other happened, then it would be a 0-1 game suspension. IMO both of them happening warrants a multi-game suspension. Part of it is bad luck for Bynum but he did elbow the guy's defenseless ribs.

AK reports from practice that the Flagrant 1 assessed to Andrew Bynum has been upgraded to a Flagrant 2. No word yet on any other action from the league. Trevor Ariza is "day to day," and will travel with the team, but there's no guarantee he'll play Friday.

Bynum says he doesn't expect to be suspended- not that he gets a vote- and Pau Gasol is awaiting word about any potential All Star bid. Plenty more to come later, but those are the highlights.

Here is the Official ESPN link; Bynum will not be suspended.

Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum's foul on Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace in Tuesday night's game has been upgraded from a Flagrant-1 to the more serious Flagrant-2 violation, the Lakers learned from the NBA on Thursday.

Wallace suffered a cracked rib and partially collapsed lung as a result on the collision. He left Staples Center on a stretcher and was taken to Centinela Hospital. Bynum told the Los Angeles Daily News on Thursday he called Wallace's cell phone and left a message.

"I didn't try to hurt him," Bynum told the Daily News. "His momentum was great, and if you look at the play, once he hit me I kind of spun around because I didn't know he was coming that fast.

"I wish him the best of luck and hope that he recovers."

Bobcats coach Larry Brown said he didn't think Bynum should be suspended.

"That kid waited at our bus, trying to get to Gerald, and he apologized to me,'' Brown told the Charlotte Observer. "If he had a history of that [rough play], I might feel different, but I just think it was a hard foul."

When Stackhouse fouled Shaq, he had his F1 upgraded to an F2 and had to sit out the next game. When Dirk fouled Ak47, he had his F1 upgraded to an F2 and had to sit out the next game. The rationale given was that even though no malicious intent was there, he exhibited poor body control and was recklessly out of position. When Dirk slapped Harpring with the back of his hand, he was ejected immediately on an F2, but had to sit out the next game as well.

I don't think Bynum's intentions were malicious, but it was the same case of being out of position and exhibiting poor body control. The decision to upgrade to an F2 is correct, but why isn't he forced to sit out the next game? Where is the consistency? Oh well, must be nice to be a glamour franchise like the Lakers. One set of rules for them, and one set of rules for everybody else. And if you suck, the league will always bail you out with a collusion trade.

And I am sure you can find many more F1 fouls that were upgraded to F2's where no suspension was given. It was a hard foul, no intent to injure. Dirk swung at Harprings face as retaliation and in anger with intent to harm. No one mentions that Drew went onto the Bobcats bus after the game and apologized and let the team know it was just a terrible accident. Also, it's his first infraction ever. That needs to be taken into consideration.

Your accusations of a different set of rules is completely absurd. What about Kobe being suspended 2 years ago for contact after his shot with a follow thru? No malicious intent like Dirks etc. It's funny how you haters forget those yet harp year after year about others. For god's sake... Bowen INTENTIALLY trys to harm guys... where is your outrage there?

As for the yet again broken record of collusion, I challenge you to PRODUCE one shred of evidence proving it. Until then, you are blabbering nothing but gibberish much the same as the Spurs haters did when the Spurs obtained Duncan.

Prove your accusations... or shut your trap... cause really.... it only makes you sound hateful, jealous, and childishly bitter.

This is seriously one of the most pathetic threads ever created on ST.

Why am I not surprised that Sun and Spur fan are the main contributors? There is no finer example of their blind hatred than this thread.

Bynum accidentally injures Wallace on a fluke play. Spur/Sun fan wish that he re-injures his knee. Perkins windmill slams Maxiell to the floor in an obvious attempt to injure, Spur/Sun fan completely silent.

Just a pathetic fanbase. Pathetic.

1 fan comes out and says this shit and you lump all of it together. Then you call one of the most pathetic threads ever created and you've been here a grand total of two months. Just a fine example of Laker fan illiteracy

not a retard, a Palin. 21 Palins is a more suitable moniker.

I like the Palin reference it was probably the best when characterizing Lakerfans. They are like over a few hundred Palins on ST since the spurs lost to them in the playoffs. The only way the Palins will dissapear is if they don't win the title this year.

By the logic you use in this thread, since there was no intent, he's absolved of all responsibility for anything to do with this thread or the injury. Maybe a warning from Kori, but nothing more. He said he's sorry so everything's 100% better, right?
