George Hill had some nice early success while Parker/Manu were out. But now, he's gone back to the "rookie on a veteran team" role. It's hard to choose him over ANY of these guys. All of these rookies are deserving.

Michael Beasley (Heat)

Rudy Fernandez (Trail Blazers)

Marc Gasol (Grizzlies)

Eric Gordon (Clippers)

Brook Lopez (Nets)

O.J. Mayo (Grizzlies)

Greg Oden (Trail Blazers)

Derrick Rose (Bulls)

Russell Westbrook (Thunder)

yup. maybe if tony had been out longer. hard to justify giving a player who usually plays less than 15mpg a spot.

http://www.nba.com/2009/allstar2009/01/28/rookie_rosters.allstar09.012809/index.html

The participants in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam were selected by the NBA's assistant coaches, with each team submitting one ballot. For the first time in the game's history, two current NBA players, All-Star starters Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat -- veterans of the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and part of T-Mobile's "All-Star Faves" -- will serve on the coaching staffs, Howard for the Sophomores and Wade for the Rookies. The head coaches for the Rookie and Sophomore teams will be the lead assistants from the 2009 NBA All-Star Game coaching staffs.

Anyone know what happened to Bron Bron?

thats stupid...how the hell does Carl Landry not make it? The dude made the all rookie 2nd team last yr...

He deserves it more than Brooks and Scola IMHO

It would have been nice to see Nic Batum on the rookie squad, but it's still nice to see 2 of our boys.

tough break for hill, hes deserving but cant really justify replacing anyone on that list.

Chalmers> Gordon (Clippers suck ass)

But yet Chalmers>Hill still.

Hill is a stud and will be a very good player he's still learning.

wtf , eric gordon >>>>>>>> mario chalmers. he single handed almost beat the pistons . and he dropped 41 points on the thunders.

gordon play of late definitly overtakes chalmers, hes been averaging like almost 30 points a game in the last couple games.

Chalmers' play has been inconsistent as of late, esp his 3's and TO's.

D.J. Augustin's injury also hurt his chances.

Chalmers> Gordon>Hill

Gordon >>> Hill > Chalmers.

Gordon is bigger stronger and more athletic than both. But if you look at the relative impact, Hill's per-40 numbers are better than both.

I think hes at a greater disadvantage because he plays sporadic minutes while Chalmers and Gordon know what they are getting. When Hill plays 15+ minutes his production goes up exponentially.

Gordon -- 17.1 PPG - 2.9 RPG - 3 APG

Hill -- 15.9 PPG - 5.6 RPG - 4.7 APG

Chalmers -- 12.2 PPG - 3.2 RPG - 5.9 APG

Kevin Love should be in.

Why only 9. They should have 12.

I dont think you can take anyone out for Love there, maybe Gasol.

Chinese fans want to see him so be it. Meanwhile, we all know that he doesn't deserve to be an all star (yet). Besides he is still injured, isn't he?

its true.

01-28-2009, 09:30 PM
Can't argue with that, I don't think Hill's play this season justifies him over any of those guys.

But it should be a 12 man squad which would mean Chalmers, Hill and Love would get in. Why only 9? I don't understand that.

timtonymanu
01-28-2009, 11:49 PM
no surprises with the rosters but i thought Chalmers would get in.

it sucks that George Hill didnt get in, but then again he plays behind Parker so he cant really prove himself.

The original announcement had it as LeBron and Howard, but apparently that was wrong from the start. That same afternoon they revised it to include Wade rather than LeBron.

Lebron is said to be a announcer for the game

Chieflion

It is a 9 player squad cause the game is 40 minutes long. 20 minute half.

Dwight Howard was misquoted and it was actually Wade who was supposed to be coaching.

If there is a true snub on both teams it's Kevin Love. He is playing really well right now, and it's a true rebounding machine.

Courtney Lee could have made it too. But can't complain. A lot of promising rookies left off.

Aaron Brooks?

JamStone
01-29-2009, 05:51 PM
I'm pretty sure the league tries to pick players for the rookie/sophomore game based on statistics more than anything. Courtney Lee does not have that. And, statistically, neither does Carl Landry relative to who he would probably replace.

Kevin Love is the toughest one to leave out, but who does he go ahead of?

The sophomores have no centers and the rookies have no small forwards. Pretty interesting how the teams will end up matching up with each other position by position.

Would it really be an upset? The rookies on paper look like they have more talent. They certainly have more size. And, they also have more dynamic scoring overall.

He is a man beast, I love the Spurs because of him. :flag:

If they play Flashy, the rookies will win, if they play to win, they will. All you have to do is run a pick n roll with scola and they will win by like 50.
