LOL @ this. The Spurs wouldn't trade for Amare and have no way of getting Shaq.

LOL @ this. The Spurs wouldn't trade for Amare and have no way of getting Shaq.why not? we could use one. and i could see shaq wanting to come here. hes always talking about how he can't let duncan pass him in titles but this way they can keep them tie! also he can finish his basketball career in SA where he started

Wouldn't happen, the spurs with Shaq or Amare would be devastating. I'm sure Duncan could compensate for A's lack of D until he learns to play it.

LOL, twisted. Then duncan would leave for the lakers so that he could get a title without shaq.

I know it's impossible but I'd give up any combo of players on pho to get Dwight Howard.

I concur. I know it's impossible but any sort of a long term building chip is something Phoenix doesn't have.

No and.....no.

What, exactly, would the Spurs give up to get either? And don't come with some Udoka, Bonner and Mahinmi bullshit.

Mr.Bottomtooth

Don't forget Vaughn.

I'm more interested in his comments on "bosh to Mavs", though i've seen no chance we can get him without losing some of our decent players. I'd trade Jason Kidd or stack&terry for Bosh, but dirk is inarguably untradable. No one wants to play abroad, so it's always a hard work for raptors to retain their stars. Canada < Australia IMHO

i give them our bench for shaq, then we go out sign players to the minimum

I'm fairly sure those two guys carry pretty big contracts. I don't believe we have the money to offer either.

0% chance spurs get one of them
but i wouldn't be surprised if detriot gets one of them.

If you throw Vaughan in the Suns get veteran savvy and championship pedigree.

no i think they would want amare.

As dumb as Amare is, no way the Suns part with him for an expiring contract and a shooter.

there would be a couple 1st round pics but if the suns dont think they can resign him after next year, its probably the same trade that they would be looking for next year.

personally i keep amare too, but amare has openly said he doesnt see eye to eye with porter and thinks his system is crap. he wants to join d antoni in NY so he can keep his stats up.

suns trading to a rival?

Xylus
02-02-2009, 01:11 AM
Unless Duncan is involved in the trade, I don't know why the Suns would make a move to make the Spurs stronger.

If we want Shaq then we should say goodbye to TP and Manu....or just Duncan.
And if we want Amare we would need to trade Manu or Tony + Fin for him.

I'd say no thanx.

On top of those other replies, Amare would want to be the man and Shaq would want touches, no way they would get that with the Spurs.

Chomag

Hells no!

However the thought of teams like Cavs, or Detroit getting these guys is kinda scary. Maybe the spurs should get one just to keep them out of everyone elses hands, but thats still not worth it IMO.

Uhhhhh...in the link you provided, Smith doesn't say anything remotely like that. He says Shaq and Amare might be traded, and specifically that Amare is unhappy in Porter's system and Shaq is wondering if HE might be traded. He says absolutely nothing about the Spurs at all, as far as I could tell.

I don't think Jayem meant to imply that the Spurs were a likely suitor for either player. I think he was simply posing the question after hearing the news.
