DENVER (Ticker) - The Denver Nuggets, looking to make a playoff push under new coach George Karl, Thursday added a veteran presence by signing swingman Wesley Person.

The 33-year-old Person averaged 3.9 points in 16 games for the Miami Heat before being waived March 1. The 11-year veteran, who joins his seventh team, has averaged 11.3 points in 708 career games.

A career 42 percent shooter from 3-point range, Person has averaged 11.4 points in 23 postseason games. He joins a team that has gone 11-4 under Karl and now are within one-half game of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

"We are very fortunate to be able to add a proven shooter like Wesley to our team," Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said. "We believe he will be a great addition."

To open a roster spot for Person, the Nuggets placed guard Luis Flores on the injured list with a strained right hamstring. Flores, who was acquired from Golden State on February 24, had appeared in just one game for Denver.

I would LOVE it if Denver beat out both LA and Minny to make the playoffs. Go Wesley!
