3:14 left in the 1st quarter and Lebrons got 17 points on 5-7 shooting already, anyone think he'll go for the record?

lol I think Lebron cares, he wants to have the greatest scoring record in the greatest arena. He's got 20 points at the end of the 1st. I think he'll come close, not sure if he'll get it.

In other news, the Raptors are beating LA by 5 at halftime, I think LA's lack of size is showing a little bit in the game. Bargnani, Bosh, and J. O' Neal are eating them up each one has 12, 12 and 16 points.

LeBron praises MSG fans before Cavs game (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=lebronpraisesmsgfansbefo&prov=tsn&type=lgns)
By Bill Eichenberger

NEW YORK—What would LeBron James do if he were the general manager of an NBA team and had to decide whether to spend now or cut salary to put his team in position to make a run at big-ticket free agents such as himself in 2010?

That was the question before Wednesday’s Cavs-Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, and James’ response was typically nuanced.

“If I was in that position where I felt our team was geared for the future and not the present, I would try to put myself in position where at least I had a chance to get a big-market player,” he said. “But you still want to win games. You don’t want to crash on the season that you have and disrespect the players that you have. But you always want to think toward the future. It would be a tough decision for me.”

Unlike his last visit to New York during which he was bombarded with questions about his interest in signing with the Knicks, that question was as close as anyone in a media contingent of about 75 came to that topic on Wednesday.

However, in response to another question, James praised Garden fans for their willingness to acknowledge an outstanding performance by an opposing player, whether it was Kobe Bryant on his Garden record-setting 61-point effort on Monday or James’ 50-point effort a year ago.

“One thing you can say about these fans is they love the game of basketball,” James said. “They’ve seen great players and performances. And they are going to cheer when they see greatness.”

In response to another question about whether the Cavs are getting the respect they deserve as legitimate title contenders, James lashed out at the all-star selection process, saying it was “a total slap in the face” to the Cavs that he is their only all-star.

“You look at the Lakers, they have two all-stars; Orlando, two all-stars; Boston, two-all-stars, San Antonio, two all-stars. These are all the teams in the league with really good records. Then you look at us, one all-star.”

James added that he was honored the Steelers’ Santonio Holmes celebrated his game-winning touchdown catch in the Super Bowl by mimicking James’ trademark tossing of the chalk.

“For him to think of that are making probably one of the best plays in the history of the Super Bowl, it was humbling for myself,” James said. “It was like, wow. For him to salute me like that was unbelievable.”

Kobe beat the knicks by alot more, and it wasnt really a close game, when Lebron beat the Knicks earlier in the year he blew them out twice because he was letting his teamates do the work, but today he wanted to outplay kobe and allowed the knicks to stay close, when Lebron lets other guys like Mo Williams handle the ball they have better ball movement and their teamates get better but today lebron had the ball in his hands more

If they played us in LA with no KG on nack 2 back they would lose ...

the league will be at a whole new level if that happens at his size

Good point!

Chances are he'll still be the biggest and the baddest athlete on the floor by the time he's 30.

But he sure as heck won't be causing havoc on the floor the way he is now.

I still lmao when I think back to the Bejing olympics and a Chinese forward tried to bear hug him and he just brushed it off and dunked for a and 1.

He has a pretty decent jumper now but it's nowhere near Kobe's class and he's going to need one if he wants to be anywhere near GOAT status, though.

lebron has a chance to be the GOAT no question. lets not forget that kobe didnt have his mid range game when he came in the league, but by the time he was 24 he did develop it. so stay tuned. all i know is i wish we had lebron. imagine lebron and kobe on the same team........ shit im going to trade for him in 2k9 and play a couple games this weekend lol

All things equal:

If both players played the same amount of minutes as Brons 44

It's likely that Kobe finishes with 76 or 77 pts, include his 3 assists, you then have 82 pts roughly

Lebrons game for his 44 minutes translates to 52 pts, plus 11 assists, which comes out to 74 pts in all.

Food for thought I suppose

Youre right. All that matters is 61pts, o reb, 3 assists

and 52 pts, 10 reb, and 11 assists.

My purpose was to point out to everyone else all things equal Their games were pretty similar. And trust I'm not a homer. I actually say Lebrons game outdoes Kobes as it is. But factoring in everything else its a wash just about

And if LeBron ate shrimp instead of chicken, he might have scored another 6 points.

Basically what I'm saying is your "food for thought" tastes and looks like crap.

LeBrons overall numbers were better, but when you see that Kobe played nearly 10 Minutes less, his performance was probably more dominant.

You guys don't need to defend him. Just stop. 61 points against any NBA team is freaking incredible. If you need to DEFEND that performance to anyone, either you, or the person on the other side of that argument is a moron. Period.

No I don't think rebounds and assists are meaningless to the game. And I say dominant ONLY in terms of scoring points.

both there points just reinforce what both guys are gonna ultimately be known for.

Lebron, the stat filler, who is a walking triple double just about.

Not really, Kelly Tripucka did it on February 25, 1989. It hasn't exactly been a heralded performance.

If you compare Kobe's and CP3's numbers from last season, CP3 was better statistically. Higher FG%, FT%, 3-point % and accounted for more points. However, the Gasol trade and some cockeyed voters from LA allowed Kobe to steal his crown. The Hornets had a better record than the Lakers before Bynum's injury, but the Gasol trade put the Lakers over the top.

Lebron deserves also the award of the highest number of air balls and ugly shooting in one game.

I remember in particular one: Lebron shot in 3 sec at the equivalent of 2 meters behind the 3 point line for an awful air ball.
