Quote:

Phil Jackson said Wednesday that Andrew Bynum (right knee) will concentrate on icing and resting his knee for the next two weeks, then spend another two weeks on conditioning drills.
At that point, barring any setbacks, it's possible that Bynum could resume basketball activities and possibly return in five weeks or so. We're still not sure why the Lakers said he'd miss 8-12 weeks, as several doctors have told Rotoworld that the typical recovery time for a moderate MCL tear is 4-6 weeks. We doubt Bynum will return to form before the end of the season, so don't feel too bad if you already dropped him. Feb. 4 - 10:16 pm et

would keep him out. no use in playing him if his knee is still not fully healed.

I say bring him back in 2 weeks. He will be good to go.

This was expected. A few years ago Barbosa missed 3 weeks with the same injury.

After the debacle last year, they're probably playing it real conservative. I think he'll be back much sooner than 8-12 weeks.

I'll stick with my five week prediction.

He will recover physically...but the mental aspect is something I would be more concern with.

Also, basketball is a rhythm game and not playing for a month to 6 weeks at least is a lot of time to miss during a regular season.

You can't turn on and off the switch like that.

I hope he remains healthy and these injuries won't keep recurring.

I agree with this part, he recovered slowly from the first major injury. But I think he's learned some mental toughness. He believes in himself now...even a bit cocky. He's starting to feel like he's the best player on the court, even when he's with Kobe/Pau. Even after his 42 point game, he thought he could have done much better.

I think he's going to pick up where he left off 2-3 games after he comes back.

2 weeks to get in playoff shape and then come of the bench. looks good to me. he never really played more than 30 min anyways with the 3 big man rotation
