Watching the Mavs tonight just clarifies for me once again why they haven't been able to win a Championship in the Dirk years. First and foremost, no low post scoring threat. Second, no low post scoring threat.

They've had the perimeter scoring, they've had good PG's, they've had a pretty good low post defender (Dampier), they've had good coaches....

This is our 7th loss by 19+ points this year. Last year after the Kidd trade, except for Game 2 of the playoffs, we were competitive in literally every single game.

They get abused at those positions in the playoffs, but respond in the offseason by giving MLEs to guys like Diop and giving fat contracts to one-dimensional players like Terry, making them very very hard to trade.
