Parker, a basketball executive? (http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/courtside/2009/02/parker-a-basket.html#more)
By Jeff McDonald

Checked your 401K lately? Odds are good retirement isn't looking too bright for you right now.

Tony Parker has no such worries.

Parker recently announced in an interview on French TV (http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20256808,00.html) that he has purchased the second-largest stake in ASVEL, France's most storied professional basketball club.

How's this for a retirement plan?

Parker will begin serving as the team's director of basketball operations immediately, and says he is contemplating finishing his career with the team when his NBA days are through. In the same interview, Parker says he and wife Eva Longoria plan to move to France upon his retirement from basketball.

"When I'm 36, 37 years old, who knows how the NBA will go?" he said in the interview. "Why not play one more farewell year in France afterwards? I've raised the subject with Eva, and she has nothing against living in France."
