Again? Didn't we just do this a few days ago? And if you're doing a poll, use the poll feature, for fucks sake.

Makes sense to me....
Philly is not going to kill their front line depth for a player that will give them nothing this year. I also don't think that the FO is ready to give up on Ian yet.

It's not the worst idea though...

there wont be a major trade...book it...the thoughts of vince or sheed playing for our team are nice, but thats it....

...this franchise is build on drafting and improvement from within...when was the last major signing (stars...not NVE or Findawg) or trade (Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_L uck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_ or rodman?...rodaman for perdue)?

Elliott?

Yep, that seems to be the problem.

My guess is a veteran big who can play 15 mpg... nothing dramatic or glamorous, but something similar to the pick up of Thomas last year.

what the hell is up with that luck the fakers thing

I think we will make a move..people need to get the "big name player" idea out of their minds though..we don't need a big name, we need a role player..

Ratliff would be good for 15-20 minutes in the playoffs..we would realistically only need him vs. LA and New Orleans, assuming Chandler is still a Hornet at the time..Thomas would undoubtedly be the main big next to Tim vs. Phoenix, Bowen would probably play vs. Dirk, Thomas/Oberto can play vs. Denver and Houston, we could be creative vs. Okur IMO..

I wouldn't mind a deal involving Josh Boone or Sean Williams..preferably Boone..

Williams would probably get abused vs. Gasol, but he blocks shots and finishes very well at the rim..Boone has horrible hands..his finishing has improved in the past few weeks, but he still lacks there..he's a solid rebounder and good defender though..

Probably do a deal with the same team...or at least the same franchise, since the Sonics no longer exist. My guess would be if we get someone, it'll be Joe Smith.

Yeah, I could see that... Smith played pretty good D the last time OK played the Spurs. His stats for this season-- 6.6 ppg & 4.5 rpg in 19 mpg-- are almost exactly what I was hoping for from Mahinmi this year.

They better do more than that.

I don't know about Joe Smith..I thought it would be a good idea at the beginning of the year, but not really anymore, since Kurt has rounded into form..Smith is a more mobile version of Kurt, but weaker and less physical..

Tully365
02-07-2009, 06:39 PM
The problem with getting Smith is what OK would want in return. He's in the last year of a contract that pays him about 4.8 mil., so he's not costing them anything in the future. It seems like the Spurs would probably have to give up Mahinmi + someone else to make the salaries match.

I agree, but don't you think he'd still be a defensive upgrade over Oberto & Bonner?

definitely..I wouldn't mind Smith if there aren't any other available options, I've liked his game for a while..but I hope the Spurs look at all the available options first, which they obviously will..

honestly, I'm expecting Joe to end up in Cleveland or Boston..the Celtics need another big almost as bad as we do, and Cleveland is where he used to play, and they still have a good relationship..

a trade for us really depends on 3 parts..

-what we're willing to give up..
-if we're willing to settle..
-favors from other teams..

anything can happen in the NBA though, as we've seen in the past, especially the last few seasons..

Yes, we will pick up a big whose greatest skill is committing 6 fouls.

Expect Pop's "this is what we're going with" speech any day now.

HarlemHeat37
02-07-2009, 08:36 PM
I would really be surprised if we didn't make a deal though..Pop doesn't have confidence in Oberto and Bonner..it's not as easy as it sounds, but there are obviously possibilities..
