Our beloved Mavs defeat the young Chicago Bulls 115-114 in OT. An exciting back and forth game, with no team leading by more than 9 points.

Letus break is down player by player

Dirk Nowitzki (2006 NBA Champion)- Dirk had a wonderful offense game scoring 44 points on 16/34 shooting, and grabbing 9 rebounds as well. He bounced back from a 1-7 start to hit 15 of his final 27. Even though his defensive standards are not lazy, I thought he was a little lackluster on that end of the court tonight. 16-34 FGA, 1-2 3PA, 11-11 FTA

Jason Kidd (2002, 2003 NBA Finalist)-Kidd seems less effective when Barea is in the game, but he had the clutch 3 to tie the game and send it into OT. He also had a sequence with 2 straight blocks on Rose and Gordon, and also drew an offensive foul in OT. Kidd did a lot of dirty work tonight, not evident through the stats. He gave us good effort on defense, although Rose's footspeed was a dilemma. 5 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds. 2-4 FGA, 1-2 3PA

Jason Terry (2006 NBA Champion)-Terry was having an adequate game before missing the entire 2nd half. Had some nice transition passes that led to easy points, and had 8 points himself. Of course, he didn't play much due to his injury. 8 points, 4 assists. 3-7 FGA, 2-6 3PA

Josh Howard (2006 NBA Champion)-J-Ho got in foul trouble early and only had 3 points heading into the 4th. he had a few braindead plays in the 4th, I believe 2 turnovers in succession and when Thomas cut off his drive he settled for an ill advised stepback jumper. But, he did hit a timely three in the 4th and an And 1, also hit a big shot in OT. All in all, our beloved J-Ho seems more enthused than he did at times earlier this year and toward the end of last season. 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 turnovers. 5-9 FG, 2-3 FT, 1-1 3PA

Erick Dampier (2006 NBA Champion)-Dampier was decent tonight I suppose, unspectacular. He missed a few easy ones, but had a few nice dunks and did serviceable work on the glass. 6 points, 10 rebounds. 3-8 FG.

Jose Juan Barea (Puerto Rican Jitterbug)- Jose had a surprisingly good game, although he got a little too confident and made some mistakes in the 4th. All in all, we are very satisfied with his game though. He battled hard on defense, although his limitations were evident. He does a nice job of drawing offensive fouls. 8-17 FG, 2-4 3PA, 2-4 FT 20 points 6 assists.

The rest:

Singleton and Wright had some pretty good defensive moments. bass was quiet tonight, although he only played 18 minutes. George (2000, 2001, 2002 NBA Champion) hit a few decent looking shots. Carroll played 4 minutes, and was nothing but a shadow. I wanna see a play to try and get him some looks.

Offense: We had a very bad sequence of possessions in the 4th quarter, but all in all the offense was good. Our efficiency was 112.1, the league best efficiency is the Lakers at 111.6. So numberswise, it was a very good offensive game for our Mavs.

Defense: If we disregard that fluke bullshit shot at the end by Ben Gordon, the Mavs defensive efficiency tongiht was 103.3. So while we did give up 114 points, the numbers say we should consider this a good, but unspectacular defensive performance.

Drive to two:

We have a lot of work to do, our roster seems very flawed and we don't seem capable of fielding a traditional lineup, hence gimmicks like Bass or Singleton at the 5 or Barea at the 2. Our defense is mediocre as well, and our offense isn't explosive enough to give us a shot at a title with our defense. Never the less, our boys continue to fight, continue to fight despite the bullshit of the 2006 Finals, the bullshit shots hit by the W's scrubs, and the bullshit of Dirk getting sidelined and having to watch in street clothes Kerr hit a bunch of fluke bullshit shots.

LOL, 2006 NBA Champions... bitter much?
Good win for the Mavs... costly win however. It's going to be tough to replace JET's scoring. Barea did his thing tonight, but it's difficult to expect the same production from him night in and night out, especially on the road.
The biggest issue now is that if the Mavs fail to make the playoffs, then Cubes has an excuse. If they do make it, then he'll think this team is really good and won't blow it up. Double edged sword there. I feel for you guys...
