NBA Shootaround spend the majority of their segements on the LeBron/Kobe rivarly and the Cavs/Fakers matchup. No big surprise there was limited coverate of Game 1 of the ABC double header - Spurs/Celtics.

Not a complex, Stern has trained his lackies at ESPN to cover NY,LA and Boston. Stern has smoked himself retarded! He wants to return to the eighties so he can market stars. The Nfl has bypassed the NBA because of the Team Marketing instead Star marketing.

The way ESPN talks about Bynum, you would think he was the leagues reigning MVP instead of the very avg center he is. Bynum couldnt hold Robinsons jock and never will be close to the player he was, but D Rob never got that kind of attention.

Stern will do everything he can to make sure LA and Bost repeat, but he has made it clear he wants LA to have home court this time.

Just drop it already w/ this shit. You've won 4 titles. Your ratings were god-awful in 03...knowing that, wouldn't he arrange it so you didn't win in 05 or 07? Actually, '07 was prearranged FOR you courtesy of one Tim Donaghy (Game 3) and an equally worse staff in game 5 (see Horry-Nash incident).

Drop the conspiracy theory shit already. Your lack of marketing is not due to small market--you guys are just boring as all hell to watch

it's not a conspiracy, it's just sad marketing..

Kobe and Lebron are the 2 best in the NBA, but neither guy has ever led a team to a title..they're both extremely fake and corny..

did anybody see that half time feature? it was one of the fakest interviews I've ever seen..both making corny jokes, sucking each other off..it was clearly scripted..both have clearly taken advantage of the soft rules in this era, and the fact that swingmen can do whatever they want..it's not a coincidence that virtually ever swingman in the NBA had a production increase following the change of rules in regard to hand checking..

this is why the NFL is much more popular than the NBA..they promote teams, not player..Stern is trying to make another Jordan, when both Lebron and Kobe aren't anywhere near Jordan..you shouldn't be promoting 2 fake guys that have never led teams to titles..

it seemed like the ESPN television crew was more heart broken at todays loss than the average Celtic fan. Hubie Brown's brittle ass would not give up hope till the final buzzer sounded

:ihit ESPN/ABC

Really then why do Cowboys new stories revolve around the Romo or TO? Player pieces on Farve, Kurt (the Bagboy from Iowa) Warner, Ocho-Cinco, or LT?

Hockey is the only one of the major sports that you hear about the team over the players, and it is the least popular of the four.

The "team over players" argument is used at the NFL level.

You're thinking of the ESPN / News level. But as far as while you watch the game itself, and it's promotions, and things of that sort...there is definately an emphasis on the teams more than the players.

The sportscenter highlights were pretty hilarious. 95% of it was from baskets the celtics made, and the clip ended with "but the spurs won." It doesn't bother me so much, considering I'm a fan of two teams on the opposite ends of the spectrum (cowboys, spurs) and I would rather do without all the cowboys media attention.
