Let's hope so.

Now, for the real news out of Dallas regarding Terrell Owens. Peter King wrote this yesterday in his Monday Morning QB, and I believe he is dead-on accurate. When, not if, is the real question everyone is asking about T.O. He will not be back, but the team is still deciding when to make the announcement of his termination or trade. Maybe Jerry Jones can work a trade out to send Owens to the Raiders since they have a huge need at wideout and have never been afraid to take on a big challenge. This will be interesting to follow as it develops. (National Football Post)

As much as I want TO gone there is going to be a ton of questions to address if he does leave.

Crayton is inconsistent at best. Hell Sidney Green had better hands than Crayton much of last year.

Roy Williams looked sloppy. I don't doubt the guys playmaking ability but he ran poor routes and generally looked shaky over the middle.

The rest of the bunch can't stay healthy long enough to assess. Which is a whole different issue altogether.

As far as I'm concerned they can let TO go (for nothing if they have to) they just need a contingent plan to bring in another solid 2nd option in the event Crayton repeats last years performance.

No 1st round pick to take a receiver, and I don't really know how deep this year's draft class is at receiver. Not that it would matter because Wade's rope is short enough to not have the luxury of relying on a rookie receiver to actually produce. TO needs to be sent packing, but their problems are much greater than that. That whole team is completely backwards.

Boldin and Colston weren't 1st round draft picks. There are recievers to be found in the later rounds. But, Austin showed a lot of promise when he played this past season and Hurd will be healthy as well.

We'll see what happens.

Bottom line, we didn't win any playoff games with T.O. and if we don't win any without him, we're really not losing much.

Don't forget that we have TEs with excellent hands. Witten can easily be our #1 receiver.

I'm indifferent to Owens at this point. Could take him or leave him given his falloff in production. If he leaves, Roy needs to seriously step the hell up.

On a side-note, it's hard to get over so many Spurs fans talk about the Cowboys as their team, despite being so annoyingly anti-Dallas on every other issue.

It's not anti-Dallas, it's anti-douchebag Mark Cuban worshipping post 2000 bandwaggoning Maverick fans. That the majority of those people happen to be from Dallas is an unfortunate reality.

Cut TO's ass from the team like the malignant tumor that he is. It will be addition by subtraction.

Cowboys should learn from the Steelers. take the game out of the qb's hands and pound the ball with your running game to set up Romo, and the team, for success.

but they won't do it cuz Jerry's all about flash and cash; not necessarily winning championships.

Not to mention that dividing locker rooms trumps what he did on the field.

Tell us how many drop balls he has had. Then compare it to how many he has caught. Then look up how many Touchdowns he has scored in his career. Then compare that to every player that ever caught a td. Look to see how many all pro games he has been in. As you do this look at all the games where T.O was open and did not get the ball thrown to him and while you are at that see how many bad balls were thrown his way.

The divided locker room. Give it up. If you cannot see the media has it out for this guy you are fucking NUTS. Sorry to say that but it is so obvious.

San Fransico. He was traded because he did not want to play for that team anymore. Pretty simple. Guess what they still SUCK. He called Garcia a fag. So what. Nobody even talked about that until the Eagles bullshit

Eagles. The guy broke his leg and did everything you could possible do to get back for the Super Bowl. When he got back he had the game of his life. He wanted a raise. Guess what? The NFL does not give a shit about the players. everyone was saying T.O should honor the contract he signed. Bullshit. The NFL does not honor the contracts they sign so why should T.O. They should have given him his money

Cowboys are so screwed up and T.O has nothing to do with it. Romo, that defense,Jerry Jones, Jason Garrett (who probably is the whinning bitch talking to ESPN behind everyones back) Wade Phillips and the national media talking about everything that happens there. Everything. Thats the problem, not T.O. The guy has never had any off the feild trouble unless you actually believe the guy who says "I love me some me" actually tried to kill himself.:lmao

The argument againsnt T.O is he wants the ball. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Most recently and there are hundered examples that WR's are like this is Boldin. They win the Championship game and he throws a hissy fit because he was not in on the last drive. WR's cry. Thats what they do. And of course he splits locker rooms. Grow up. I'm sure some players have said they don't like T.O but you hear most love the guy. This is media driven.

The Cowboys have Roy Williams now and of course Jason Witten. Nobody else. If you think Williams is better so be it. Who else do they have worth a shit. I'll answer that nobody. T.O has 2 years left. Of course the NFL can release him because they donot have to honor contracts they sign but I say keep his ass.

He has contributed to the bad chemistry that is one of the Cowboys problems. He has made mistakes, dropped passes on critical third downs, bitching about his role on the team publicly. He wants to bitch, fine but do it behind closed doors with your teammates and coaches where it belongs and not in the press like a little bitch.

We can debate what TO has done or hasn't done forever but the point of my post remains. You don't get rid of someone like Owens, or anyone for that matter if it makes your team worse. As much as a problem as he can be, he is, as mardigan said, the best WR they have and you can't just cut or trade him for nothing. My point also emphasizes that the Cowboys have many problems and getting rid of T.O. doesn't make everything all better.

Chemistry. HAHA. Thats gossip. I saw Tony Romo, Jason Witten and T.O. after a game laugh and say everything is ok. I heard Tony Romo say Jason Garrett calls were getting predictable. Nothing to do with T.O.

Critical third downs drops. Can you please be specific. Remember T.O had 10 dropped passes all season. I'm guessing they were not all on "critical" third down plays driving for the game winning touchdown. They lost 7 games for crying out loud.

Bitching about his role. Wanting to win is not bitching. Get T.O the ball you win games. Its not rocket science. You win games. And someone went to Ed Werder last time to tell the world T.O is bitching about his role and noone knows who that was.

You are right, no need to get rid of that guy. Injuires hurt this team. Play calling hurt this team. No leadership hurt this team. Jerry Jones 3 ring media circus hurts this team. He loves the media attention. Even if its bad.

samikeyp
02-13-2009, 03:12 PM
Wanting to win is great, whining about it in the press is not. And T.O. was not the only one bitching in the media. I thought Romo's comment about Garrett was worse than anything Owens said. I bet it was Romo who talked to Werder and that too was a bitch move.

Good chemistry is not gossip, it exists. The Spurs have it and it has helped them win 4 titles, its not the only thing you need but it is a part.

I agree with you about Phillips and the play calling, about the no leadership (or discipline for that matter) and about Jones being a media whore.

My point is still this. Owens isn't 100% blameless, but he is also not the root of the problems. Just getting rid of T.O. doesn't make everything peacefully at Valley Ranch again. Until Jones parks his ego and gets in a coach who has a spine and a real football mind at GM, the Super Bowl will be a dream and not reality. Talentwise, they are not far off. Its the non-physical aspect of the game where they are floundering.

Local media here think either Garrett or Witten went to ESPN on the last drama in Big D story.

When people can get away from this crap I think its pretty simple what the Cowboys problems are.

As far as T.O is concerned in general I started looking at him durning the Eagles BS. I was shocked more people did not have his back. I am really speaken of ESPN commentators. These were former players in the league that know the NFL contracts mean shit and to hear those guys and the rest of the media dog this guy about honoring a contract when I assume they themselves (ex-players) have been fucked or many people they knew were fucked by NFL contracts. It really shocked me. A NFL owner can cut a player 1 day after they sign a 10 year contract. No reason. To me its pretty obvious T.O has snubbed the media in the past and they all just jumped on the bandwagon.

samikeyp

I think its funny that the media complains about T.O. constantly wanting attention, but they are the ones camped out in his front yard waiting to pounce on his every word and move.

Yeah, NFL owners can be brutal. You have a guy who does all but kill himself for you for 10 years and one day, it can all be over with no warning.

T.O. is not th eonly problem, but he is a problem, as he's been everywhere he's been before. His lifespan with a team is limited because of off the field issues he creates by his "Love me some me" attitude. No question he is athletically gifted; he's just not a leader. Everywhere he's been he's thrown his quarterback under the bus. Only a matter of time before he does the same to Romo. He dissed McNabb in Philly; look how far Philly got this year with McNabb and arguable less talent than Dallas. The difference? Oh yeah, T.O. wasn't with Philly anymore, he was with Dallas.

I can't believe Spurs fans on this board who are also Cowboy fans can't see the impact (negative) TO has on his team, given that you've seen the antithesis to T.O. in Tim Duncan. I.e. T.O. could never be a Spur and continue to do what he does in the media. He is the equivalent to a Dennis Rodman; supremely talented, but a head case, who can only be effective within a team that has strong leadership such as the Pistons and Bulls had. Dallas has no leadership and T.O. is all to wiling to fill that void, which only further exacerbates the situation.

But bottomline: with or without T.O. Dallas will continue to sputter so long as Jerry Jones fails to relenquish at least some control of the football operations. Puppets for coaches won't win a superbowl, and I'm afraid Romo won't progress as a qb without a real coach.

IMO, Cowboys are doomed, unless they make realy philosophical changes in how they approach their work.

Threw QBs under the bus? He implied Garcia was gay in a playboy article AFTER they were no longer teamates. Read the article. Thats it. He said he thinks Favre is a better QB than McNabb. So freaken what. Poor McNabbs feelings got hurt. McNabb fired back that the Eagle won without T.O. before and can without him again. Where did that come from McNabb, golly gee, a bit of a over reaction don't you think?

T.O then said McNabb looked tired on the last drive of the Super Bowl. He was dogging it. Oh My! It was true! McNabb was out of breath. Battle of the whatever, the who gives is shit is OVER.

McNabb should have had T.O.s back. Say "Hell yea, pay the guy more money. I never had a reciever like him before" But no, McNabb only cared about himself and wanted all the credit but you and others call that T.Os fault.

Romo doesn't seem to have a problem with T.O. In fact T.O did some crying to the media about Romo"thats my quarterback" T.O loves him some Romo. I didn't see T.O bitching about Steve Young. Amazing. How everyone forgets Steve Young was his first QB. Young and Romo get along with him. Him calling Garcia a fag after he was traded to the Eagles in a playboy article. Come on now. How far does the media take this QB bullshit and some of you actually believe it.Infact he actually did not call him a fag but for argument sakes lets say he did. Durning the time they played together, they did there job. Imagine that. And it was pretty fucking good.

T.O was with Dallas last year and the Boys went 13-3. The Eagles went 8-8. Is that because T.O was on the Cowboys and not Eagles? Hmm.T.O is not Rodman. Good God Man. WTF? That is so fucking stupid. How about tell Romo to be the leader. THATS WHAT QBs ARE SUPPOSE TO BE, not some wideout.

Are you in the locker room after games? Do you know T.O. personally? Do you know anything other than what the media hype machine has made him onto? If the answer is no to these question's, you really don't know anything about the impact T.O. has on the locker room or the players.

Seriously guys, I have no problem with getting rid of T.O., but only if the Boys can come up with an acceptable solution to replace his productivity. The guy still draws constant double teams, and throwing Stanback or Austin out there isn't going to emulate that.

I don't understand the T.O. apologists. You don't see the recurring trend? TO is all about himself and I think he's pretty much conceded that by his own actions.

And calling his qb gay and and his other qb a "quitter" is not throwing them under the bus? You don't diss your teammates in the media, ever.

How can Cowboy fans not be disgusted with TO when you compare him to Dallas greats of the past like D Pearson, T Hill and M Irvin? IMO, TO can't hold their jocks. They made the star on the helmet mean something. TO is only tarnishing it, just like he tried to do as 49er when he stood on the star in mockery. AT least George Teague stood up for the star then. Now it seems no one will, especially TO's teammates.

You don't have to be in the lockerroom to see that the lockerroom is weak. Strong locker rooms don't let their business out into the public like this squad does. THat's not just an indictment of TO; it's an indictment of PHilips, JOnes, the whole lot of them.

Um Garcia was not his teammate when he IMPLIED he was gay. McNabb went after T.O because T.O said he thought Farve was better. Thats how it started and who gives a shit, they played like 13-14 games together. Whats the deal with you man. Why don't you get this. Again no problem with Romo or Steve Young.

Yes you do have to be in the locker room to have an opinion about it. T.O can certainly hold the past Cowboys jocks. Look at his stats. 2nd in the HISTORY of the game in touchdowns. Please don't argue bullshit. Thats second in the whole history of the game.

Who gives a fuck he stood on the Cowboy star. Just stupid, its a fucking GAME. You are contributing to the No Fun League with stupid shit like that. T.O and the Eagles did not work out. That simple. The media ran and ran and ran with that story. Its so OLD.

IMO, the star incident was bush league but aside from that, I think T.O has done some pretty funny stuff, even before he went to Dallas.

As someone who has seen Hill, Irvin and Pearson play...Owens is better than Hill and Pearson and on par with Irvin and will finish his career with better numbers. I don't agree with some of the things he has done, as mentioned previously, but as far as his on field talent, he is still one of the best in the league and still Dallas' best option at WR.

I'm not ready to give up on T.O., he's not the only reason this team underachieved.

I blame the owner and coaching staff more than him. Some of the things that went wrong with the team and have nothing to do with T.O.:

1. Brad Johnson sucks.
2. Wade says he's calling the def plays.
3. Cowboys fire their special teams coach.
4. Cowboys fire their def coordinator.
5. Jerry brings in Dan Reeves (who could have been BIG in the locker and coach's room), then leaves two days later.
6. Romo calls out Jason Garrett.

TO is a marvelously talented player, but he always looks to his numbers, his catches, his TDs, and never to the team's fortunes. I think you can keep him and be a playoff team, but I don't think you can keep him and be a Superbowl team.

And without him they are neither.

Its so OLD.

It's simple. You love T.O. I do not.
I value such things as tradition, winning the right way, etc. You do not.
I think T.O. sucks. You do not.
I suspect you think Jerry Jones is great too. I do not.

Dude....... I donot love T.O. Jesus man. WTF. Someone who defends another guy now must "loves" him.I have no clue what you mean by tradition or winning the right way especially considering we are talking about rich ass football players who want to market themselves. Don't you dare single out the one we our talking about, 90 percent of them do it.

You think T.O sucks given all his stats. That says alot about you. I think T.O is one of the greatest recievers of all time. I don't care what the media tells me to think, what team he plays for or any dance he does in the end zone. I don't care how much he makes or what reality show he is on. The guy is mistreated by the media and has handled it very well. Thats another reason they hate him. He disses them everytime they try to knock him down. They can't get to the guy.

Jerry Jones makes me sick to my stomach. Honestly this whole HATE T.O. thing is way out of control.

How many dropped balls? How many catches across the middle?
Not to mention that dividing locker rooms trumps what he did on the field.

How many routes called across the middle? A shit low amount that's how many. Garrett refused to call slants or other routes that were within 10 yards. Everything with him is a huge play or nothing at all.

They called plenty of those. TO doesn't catch them. How many times during the season did TO go up and get a ball that was contested? Once? Larry Fitzgerald did it two or three times a game. A guy that wants to be the primary receiver and fancies himself one of the best in the league shouldn't have to get such perfect passes in order to succeed. Owens is a great run after the catch guy, but he's got average hands and he's a locker room cancer. The only reason he ever became a Cowboy is because Jerry Jones regretted passing on Randy Moss so much.

Owens is hardly the problem when you have an offensive coordinator who is predictable and a head coach that is a softie. Cowboys still have those 2 so expect the same results with or without Owens.

when given the chance he did, keep in mind he is no Fitzgerald as far as vertical leaping is concerned, he's getting up there in age, but he can still make plays when given the chance

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones went on and on Tuesday emphasizing he hasn't decided whether to keep or cut Terrell Owens.

Then, long after the subject was seemingly put to rest, Jones brought it up again -- with a pretty obvious hint that T.O. is staying.

"You and I both know that the one that you're asking about all the time, if I gave you the answer that you want to hear, then you would've already had it. So the fact you don't have it ought to tell you something. It really should," Jones said.

You clearly weren't watching the Cowboys this year if you are going to say something so stupid. It has nothing to do with leaping, it has to do with catching a ball when there's a defender nearby. It's hard enough to get Owens to catch a ball when you hit him in the fucking hands with it.

What has he done the past 10 years? He wons those SB because of no cap and a brilliant head coach in Jimmy Johnson.

I'm a fucking Cowboys fan btw.

Along with his three Super Bowls he has made a shit load of money not only for his team but the rest of the league. He has put together a pretty good freaken team the past two years, remember he is also the GM. Just a predition but the Boys will make a playoff run next season as long as they stay healthy.

For the record I hate the guy. He is freaken selfish and I will NEVER pay for a ticket. 100,000 dollars for seat license fee. WTF. The car salesman is coming out now, he is lowering his prices but the poor dumb bastards who already forked over the cash will feel fucking stupid.

I agree you cant judge him strictly on Super Bowls the man at leats tries to win and put forth an entertaining product his problems are ego, and not bringing in a stonger coach after the team soured on Parcells ...
