80-73 in the third. This looked like a trap game, and it is.

This is Utah's title game (all starter's having great games)...whatever, not like anybody's gaining ground on us with this loss

Just frustrating that this team hasn't won 8 in a row. At least SD can make a thread.

Stop being a drama queen.

It's the Jazz. They don't play defense.

Drama queen? If this game stays close with time running down, there was bound to be multiple threads on this game.

HarlemHeat37

Utah would be really good if they had some size/toughness up front..Millsap and Boozer are both undersized(Boozer's a bad defender too), while Okur is soft..

Ghazi
02-11-2009, 11:22 PM
Jazz shooting shitty from FT line.

Utah would be good if they played defense and played well on the road. They're a 70 win home team but a 35 win road team. as a result they'll get 52-53 wins :P

(maybe not this year due to injuries)

I didn't like how Kobe decided to take every single shot down the stretch. Phil should have put a stop to that, Gasol and Odom are much better options IMHO because Kobe has been cold this entire game.

Oh well, Lakers didn't deserve to win that game and they didn't. Utah is a tough out on the road, they played harder and won the game. Props to them.

I'm surprised LA didn't go down low more often..Utah has no shot blocker..Okur is a decent man defender in the post, but nothing special..Gasol should have had more looks, and LA should have penetrated more..Kobe's too talented to settle..

I'm not sure why Kobe decided to go solo tonight. His shot was way off and he wasn't getting the calls. He had one big 3, but then he really screwed the pooch with turnovers and careless shots. Phil needs to reign this behavior in and start telling Kobe to run the fucking offense down the stretch.

Tonight I can honestly say Kobe's solo play took the team out of the game.

Still, the Lakers are showing how tough they are even in their losses. I honestly can't remember the last time they were actually blown out by a team. Nearly every loss has come down to the wire.

tough loss but not the end of the road. 3 games in 4 nights after a 5 games in 7 nights is tough. but no excuses, the jazz played their guts out

Good performance for the Lakers considering it was a back to back in Utah, which is murderous.

LOL you also need refs to swallow their whistles for the entire game, which is basically what they did tonight.

Utah gets away with a lot of shit on their homecourt, which is part of the reason why they have a great home record. I think some refs are fearful of Mormon retribution to be totally honest, you can literally hear the hatred and venom from the fans in most telecasts. Im still trying to figure out who got fouled on the jazz when Williams dished it in for a and1 towards the end of the game.

there was one sequence where it went iffy. I remember kobe getting alot of contact on a lay up and when the jazz got it back, he barely bumped willams and he got whistled...the 3rd quarter definately didnt go both ways.

maybe, but its not like the lakers lost the third quarter by a huge margin. i think it was just utah making shots that they usually dont make and D williams' penetration.

good note for lakers, jordan farmar looks real good. i always said if he got PT, hes a tony parker in the making

Calls definitely went in favor towards the Jazz in the 2nd half. That DW foul right there along with the one where he dished to Millsap for a dunk and an and 1 near the end were obvious.

With that said, this loss goes on the Lakers for playing no defense at all. Kobe pretty much sealed our chances of winning by jacking up so many shots in the 4th when he wasn't on and was defended well. I didn't like how he kept shooting 3s after 3s. Lamar played very well again and had some huge defensive plays in the crucial minutes. Also hit clutch free throws as well.

Who makes these schedules..they had a tough road trip & barely any rest. They played last night & got into utah at like 3am. Thats too much to ask these players to do. Yes

They showed a stat earlier tonight, the Lakers have lost 4 of their 9 games by 3 or less.

Tonight they lost by 4? So its 5 of 10 by 4 or less.
The only time they've been "blown out" this year is v the Queens, maybe you can consider the Detroit game a convincing loss as well.

This is why margin of victory is a stat never to be underrated. The less you get blown out and the more you blow teams out, the better you are.

that's why I can't take our beloved Mavs seriously, 7 losses by 19+ points + a bunch of nailbiters v garbage teams.

That's why the Spurs aren't contenders, their margin of victory is only 3, they have a bunch of fluke bullshit wins on fluke Mason shots, and they just lost to the Boshless fucking Raptors.

No one on the lakers had energy, except odom, odom was the only good player for the lakers, kobe looked tired and shot the ball 33 times and only made 14, it was a back to back game in Utah so i am not to worry, i remeber last year Utah was missing Williams, Bozer and Okur and they killed us, then when they were healthy we killed them
