The Big Three

The Big Three for the Spurs offensively is a three-headed cobra. TP, Gino and Timmy. One PG, one Wing, and one Pivot player who can score as needed and triangulate its victims.

Since the All Star Game, the Big Three have stepped up their game and taken more of the scoring load. Unfortunately, the rest of the team has taken a reduced scoring role. Pop is playing Barry more and Udrih less in an effort to stimulate rhythm for Brent, but the results are less than encouraging. Here are some numbers on the Big Three and the rest of the "Spurs Snake":

Good info and reasearch. Beno should get more minutes last night he came in for 6 minutes and scored 7 points and handed out 2 assists. Pop should try to distrubte the minutes like this IMO:

Now, after running minutes and points production on 8 players, it seems that Pop isn't necessarily giving Beno's minutes to Brent like he suggested he would. Let the truth be told.

Four of the five starters are just getting more minutes, due to the closeness of the games.

I think Pop is trying to rest Beno and get Brown and Barry into a rhythm. Both Brown and Barry have been sub bar ih recent weeks, so giving them more time to get better makes sense to Pop.

What I want to see happen in the coming weeks is a more set rotation from Pop. Give either Brown or Barry closer to 25 MPG and then let the other play if the team needs energy. He can limit Beno's minutes by playing Parker more or by playing Barry at that position, but I'd rather Beno tough it out and continue to learn and grow as a PG.

Things are bright right now for the Spurs. If they can stay healthy, get the bench back to playing well and set a rotation ... they'll be the team to beat in the Western Conference.

The Spurs are winning like Champions...but Brown and Barry aren't really playing more minutes since the ASG. The margins of victory aren't in double figures. The bench isn't producing, so the starters have to come back in and play more minutes. At least that's the way I'm seeing things.

I think the Spurs need to lean more on their rookie find Beno, too. Let Barry and Devin share the backup swing minutes for now.

IMO playing with Beno and Tony at the same time would maybe be cool on offense but could be dangerous to use on D. Both are true PG and it would maybe be hard for them to defend on a bunch of SG...

Although our bench scoring is down, our starters(well the big three at least) scoring is up. And the good thing about our bench is that on any given night, they can come in and score for an ineffective starter. Example:Phoenix game-Parker ineffective, so Barry/Beno make up for it. Thats the good thing about inconsistency and I used to always say this about Parker and Ginobili:When ones off, you know the other is gonne be hitting shots.

Bench working well made spurs so dominant few weeks/months ago and lets face it - pops decision to shuffle the rotation randomly every night is resulting in close matches and therefore the need for starting 5 to work more minutes. I'm not really impressed at the way he is leading the team lately...
