The New Jersey Nets enter the All-Star break with alot of questions to answer. While they have overachieved somewhat the first half of the season, both their fans and Nets management know they don’t have enough to get past the Celtics, Cavs, or Magic in the East this season. Their most valuable asset they are willing to trade is Vince Carter, and he is drawing some serious interest by many playoff hopefuls. The Bergen Record (http://www.northjersey.com/sports/nets/39542092.html) reports the Rockets have been in talks discussing a deal that would re-unite Tracy Mcgrady with his cousin Vince, and send out the expiring contract of Ron Artest in exchange. Another offer from the Dallas Mavericks has Carter being shipped out for Jerry Stackhouse. Other teams reportedly already have talked to the Nets include Minnesota, Washington, Chicago, and San Antonio. As we enter the weekend, expect more talks to continue.

In other news, if we are to see Stephon Marbury on the court this spring, then his meeting February 24th will have to be productive. The NY Post reports that Marbury will meet with Knicks management once again to see if they both can come to terms on a buyout.

The Toronto Star (http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/586895) reports that talks could be heating up in the next 48 hours regarding the Jermaine O’ Neal for Shawn Marion deal. Both the Raptors and Heat want to be active at the trade deadline, and have given each other an unofficial “deadline” of Sunday to finalize a deal involving O’Neal and Marion. If they cannot, look for both teams to look at other suitors for their players.

Note: Marbury will have to be on someone's roster by March 1 to be able to play in the playoffs.
