Stern: MVP trophy now bears name of Hall of Famer Bill Russell (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/basketball/nba/02/14/russell.trophy.ap/index.html)

Bill Russell was never an NBA finals MVP.

Now the award is named after him.

Starting this year, the finals MVP will receive the Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award, commissioner David Stern announced Saturday.

I guess the idea is that had they had an MVP award he would have won it a lot of times, and of course he's won a lot of rings...

Eh.... Jordan legitimately won six Finals MVP's, it really should be named after him...

I can guaran-damn-tee you Jordan would be the last guy you'd ever see loose a finals MVP to a guy from the loosing team, God would come down and take a dump on the whole world before that would happen...
