Mike Monroe's NBA Power Rankings - Feb. 15, 2009 (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/spurs/Mike_Monroes_NBA_Power_Rankings_-_Feb_15_2009.html)
Mike Monroe

Top 10
(Last week's rank in parentheses)

1. Lakers (1): Bottom line on Radmanovic trade? Dr. Buss saved $16.2 million in salary, luxury tax.

2. Celtics (2): Confidence wasn’t shaken by home losses to Lakers, Spurs; Allen’s injury wasn’t serious.

3. Cavaliers (3): Owner Gilbert deems Williams’ All-Star call “fantacular, extraordulous and phenomerful.” We think he’s ludiculous.

4. SPURS (4): Giving up 22 points, game winner to Roko Ukic not the way they wanted to hit the break.

5. Nuggets (5): They’re 4-1 on their own version of rodeo road trip, with three more roaders after break.

6. Magic (6): New point guard Ty Lue discovers truth about being a Magic set-up man: Get ball to Superman.

7. Hornets (7): Team officials in Phoenix lobbying to host All-Stars again in 2014; all NBA writers heartily endorse the idea.

8. Jazz (13): Should D. Williams have been All-Star? He’s scored 30 or more in five straight games, including win over Lakers.

9. Rockets (10): Artest still calling out McGrady; now T-Mac’s calling back: ‘ ... stop talking so damn much.’

10. Mavericks (8): How big a loss is Jet Terry, out for 3-6 weeks? He’s their leading scorer in fourth quarters.

that's why we just scored 17pts in the fourth against celtics:(. but his injury doesn't matter too much, as we are gonna land VC before the deadline. besides we are also negotiating with clippers on a trade that will bring us Kaman. tell the rockets team to clean their ass and get prepared to be kicked again in the first round. Rockets will get the last ticket to postseason, but they are gonna fall again in front of mavs in the first round. mavs are gonna win the championship this season.

i'm satisfied with the Nuggets basically being locked to the hip of the Spurs for the majority of the season :clap :smokin

Losing by forty never helps the cause though.

yeh but it was the response that is important. They proceeded to beat the Heat/Magic on the road on a b2b :smokin

That 44pt loss was nothing more than one of those nights where everything goes wrong.

Don't 4get the Spurs got roKO'd in Toronto on the same night the Nuggets beat the Magic in Orlando :smokin

Yeah, but they lost by a handful. I'll give you that though. There are times when things go absolutely wrong. But to lose by 44 is a bit much. I think they need to make a harder effort to consistenly get Nene involved but what the hell do I know.

Winning in Miami is impressive.
