Amare talks turn to Chicago, but ...

PHOENIX -- As Amare Stoudemire warmed up for the NBA All-Star Game on his home floor Sunday night, the Suns' efforts to trade him circled back to the Chicago Bulls, three people with knowledge of the situation told CBSSports.com.
The Suns are discussing financial and basketball trades with several teams, and disagreement within the organization -- and in the mind of managing partner Robert Sarver -- continues to complicate matters, one of the people said. One faction of the organization views trading Stoudemire as a "giant mistake" that would be difficult to recover from and views the firing of coach Terry Porter as a sufficient move for now. Asssistant Alvin Gentry is expected to take over for Porter Monday.
The Suns' efforts to find the best deal for Stoudemire have come back to the Bulls partly because of Phoenix's interest in Tyrus Thomas, one of the people said. The trade likely would have to include at least one of the following -- Drew Gooden, whose contract expires after this season, and Larry Hughes, whose deal comes off the books after 2009-10.
If the Suns decide to dump salary and go young, there could be an additional smaller deal that follows any Stoudemire move, one of the people with knowledge of the team's strategy said. Though several other teams are still in the mix and are being apprised of the progress with Stoudemire, one rival executive familiar with the talks said Portland evidently is no longer an option.
Stoudemire received a warm welcome from the home crowd during the All-Star starters' introductions at US Airways Center. He pounded his chest in return and smiled. Was it hello or good-bye?

Amare/Rose would be pretty sick. Then the Bulls can try to deal Heinrich for a scoring guard or Bigman if that trade were to go down.

Rose/Deng/Amare would be a pretty solid big 3 to have in Chi Town.

Kerr is going to be murdered if this deal goes through.
Tyrus Thomas is a piece of shit.
Drew Gooden is a headcase.
Larry Hughes is a bricklayer.
There's very little of value in those three players.

Heinrich :lol is so weak that no team wants to trade even a garbage contract for him, maybe bulls can pack him with nocioni/fillers and trade them to houston for tmac that they used to love so much. :lmao tmac's contract has less years remaining than hinrich's, that's the only reason why bulls should make this deal.

If Hinrich isn't involved in this deal, fuck it. Fuck this trade.

If Sarver wanted financial relief now why would he acquire Hughes?

Amare/J-Rich for Heinrich/Gooden/Gordon/Thomas. Gooden and Gordon will expire in the summer, you have your Nash replacement and Tyrus is cheap.

the salary space Gooden's expiring contract clears will be totally used to re-sign Gordon, or even not enough.

I'd be willing to bet money that that "faction's" name is Steve Nash.

Watch Larry Hughes turn into Raja Bell in Phoenix.
didn't the blazers offer aldridge AND bayless? how did that turn out? was it real or just a rumor? hard to see the suns would accept the bulls' offer and pass up on the blazers' young talent. even if they are very against trading stoudemire to a conference rival, suns are crazy to consider trading stoudemire for much much much less than they can get with the blazers.

a guy on a German basketball blog claims he has informations from a Suns member that a Suns-Bulls deal is done. all he tells is, that Noah is also part of the package. no idea if this site is trustable. guy sounds much like a wannabe.

If the Phoenix FO is smart, they'll ship him. He has been clearly dogging on Porter, and it's been costing Phoenix wins. Now Porter is gone, but you don't want to have a locker room cancer that will play half speed if he doesn't like the coach. The tough part is getting something resembling equal value in return...

I agree. If Kerr does this the backlash in Phoenix will be crazy. Gooden plays worse D than Amare. His game consists of grabbing easy defensive rebounds, fighting for 2-3 offensive rebounds, and shooting baseline jumpers. He's horrible.

Speaking of backlash, how did stern make an appearance and not get shot. (even though he was right a couple years back, I'd imagine it's still in the back of many fans' minds).
Ya, if Kerr pulls the trigger, he better get something damn good in return. Amare might dog, but put him in a fast pace system and he's a monster which I'm guessing is what gentry is going to put in place for when shaq is not on the floor.
Shaq off floor - 7 seconds or less
Shaq on floor, 20 seconds or more...

It wasn't right for the game, but the rules are written to rule out common sense. Stern had not choice unless he wanted all his past suspensions coming into question. Trust me I was FUCKING pissed off when it happened knowing it cost the suns the best chance at a title ever, but the rules are rules even if it possibly keeps the best team from advancing.
