View Full Version : Eliyahu Gets Big Offer From TAU

Lior Eliyahu has been offered 4 years €4 million euros net contract by TAU. Remember Europe contract will include all taxes paid and all agent fees paid and is in euros and salary listed is net salary not gross.

This means that this contract is same as 4 years $10.2 million NBA contract (because NBA contracts are in dollars instead of euros and do not pay taxes because they are gross and do not pay the agent fees).

So Houston Rockets would have to give him 4 years $10 million dollars NBA contract if they wanted to bring him to the team. He was supposed to play for Rockets this summer in summer league and to be offer spot on the team but now this will not happen because of this big contract from TAU.

Might be good news for the Spurs. Maybe a replacement for Splitter when he comes over this summer :hat

This rumour is not true.

Well, he's somewhat soft indeed, but he isn't a 5 anyway. More of a 3/4 tweener. To me, he's a defence-less version of Ilyasova.

So its not true? Do you think it would have any bearing on Splitter's circumstances?

Probably not. Do Tau have any other big men in the pipeline?

The Rockets need Luenan not Eliyahu anyway, he is a marginal NBA talent at best.

Well, Tau is setting their eyes on Eliyahu, like many other european teams, but there's no contract, let alone a €1M one. I don't think this has nothing to do with Splitter; Baskonia has never really made up for Singleton's departure and they could use a player like the Israeli. The only way I see Tiago leaving Baskonia next Summer is if TAULELL is hugely affected by the recession, but so far there's no signs of that. Extremely far-fetched scenario.

Why do you need Leunen? You aren't happy with your 14th man performance?

Luenan is playing in Turkish league which is only about 5th best domestic league in Europe. He is playing on team which is only in 8th place in the league. It is a farm team for one of the two Euroleague clubs from Turkey. Same way some NBA teams have NBDL clubs.

He average 12 points and 5 rebounds at this level. He is very far from any chance of ever see NBA at this time.

Luenan is a better FIT for the Rockets team with his 3pt shooting.

He is perfect for a Yao oriented team as a backup.
