Stupid move for the Rocket's to give up Landry and get someone who won't work well with T-Mac. The issue with the Rocket's is T-Mac - this would only add fuel to the fire.

As for giving up Hill & Mason, still - no thanks.

I hope the Rockets do this.

This would be Toronto Raptors all over again. Except worse.

If I'm the rockets I make this move in a heartbeat. Artest is a pending free agent who I don't want to make a long term financial commitment to and Tmac is a chronicly injured puss who just needs to go away. A chance to trade away Artest for Tmac's replacement seems like a pretty good idea to me. Landry, yeah, losing him is tough, but you gotta give in order to get.

Good deal for Houston.

I heard Carter for McGrady earlier, but this would probably be better for both teams..

Artest for McGrady would be awesome for Houston, but I doubt the Nets like it. At least by getting a young player like Landry they have something to fall back on in the event they swing and whiff at the big names in the 2010 free agent market.

yeah, you right. heres the article snippet...

Speaking of Carter, well-placed league sources say there is a good chance Carter is moved before the trade deadline. San Antonio, Dallas and Cleveland have all been mentioned as possible destinations, but sources say that the emerging dark horse is Houston (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=hou).
A trade of Carter and Trenton Hassell (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=998) for Tracy McGrady (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=532) would achieve two goals for New Jersey: It would get the Nets another $15 million further under the cap in 2010, and it would allow them to remain competitive in the interim.
It appears that the oft-injured McGrady has worn out his welcome in Houston, so it's hard to see why the Rockets wouldn't make that deal.

FWIW....the landry, artest, head for boone, carter trade doesn't work

the mcgrady for carter, hassell trade actually works....i pray to god the nets take that

There's another hitch too. Landry has to give consent. When a team matches an offer sheet for a restricted free agent that player can't be traded without his consent for one year.

If its McGrady for Carter and and Hassell then its a great trade for Houston.

If its Landry Artest for Boone and Carter, then its a horrible trade for Houston.

Carter to the Rockets is a great trade for both teams, regardless of who goes..

why the hell would the Rockets keep Artest? they have no long term interest in him..his D has fallen off heavily, he doesn't fit with the team..they're currently under-achieving..

Vince is much better than him, it's not even close..you also have to consider that Carter and McGrady are close..and as we've seen with Mac, he plays better when he has close friends with him..McGrady is an emotional guy that needs people like that around him..

Vince is a great 2nd option, while McGrady would just be a 3rd option, which is perfect for him..

All the talk over here is some way to dump McGrady but his recent sit down because of an undiagnosed knee injury has closed out his trade value.

It's a bad move for Nets who are playing pretty good with current squad and have a big chance to enter the playoffs. Rockets need a superstar to fill in for tmac who has already left this season due to pregnancy, so the rockets have much more demand for this trade. Nets should ask for more from rockets whose role players are still pretty good compared to their franchise shits. Nets'd better also trade some of their garbage contracts for battier and scola in addition to the former proposal.

Why would any Spurs fan, me included give a damn about Carter?? Their problem is their D is not up to what it was in the title years of 99, 03, 05 and 07. Carter solves none of those issues. He is a good scorer who can't defend to save his life.. Fitting into our system what would he do, maybe 10 pts a game and play no D, oh wow that's impressive....

Agreed ...sad to see his demise but I called it when he started having back issues
