:bang Would have been awesome

The Nuggets were in preliminary trade talks Wednesday with Sacramento, NBA sources confirmed, but the two players Denver was interested in — John Salmons and Brad Miller — were ultimately shipped to Chicago.

Salmons is one of the best, if not THE best Kobe-stopper.

Yah, but he could have gone to the Nuggets according to the Op's post...that would have really sucked cuz I have a feeling Nuggets are seeing the Lakers in the Playoffs.

And I think there was interest in him from the Spurs too.

I didn't know this.

What does he do so well that frustrates Kobe?

I didn't know this.

What does he do so well that frustrates Kobe?

He's the same size as Kobe with equal quickness/athleticism and probably almost as strong.

On defense, Kobe can't get that first step around him like he usually can. Salmons doesn't go for Kobe's head fakes. Kobe can't post him up like he does against smaller guards either.

Kobe doesn't get daylight on his jumpshots and he can't outquick Salmons to the rim.

On offense, Kobe guarding Salmon's has been pretty disastrous. Salmons goes off for like 25 points at a very high percentage against Kobe.

Offense + Defense, Salmons gets the edge in head to head matchups with Kobe.

john salmons? wow can't be... when j.salmons played for the sixers he was so inconsistent. His defense was horrible.. and his scoring... well never had the chance with a.i around.

Thanks for the info, I had thought Salmons was drafted by the Kings. Didn't know much about him until he started torching the Lakers.

The Spurs drafted Salmons for the Sixers to trade for Speedy Claxton. Much like the Barbosa situation. If the Spurs were planning to keep the player they picked those years, they would not have drafted Salmons in the first place. He was drafted for the Sixers only.
