The Phoenix Suns are discussing a potential trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers which would pair Shaquille O’Neal with LeBron James for a run at the NBA title, two NBA executives familiar with the talks said Thursday morning.

In return, the Cavaliers would send Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to the Suns.

No deal is imminent, but sources say the two teams have been talking about the potential trade for two days now. A Cavs official didn’t deny the talks but said the team was leaning against making a move.

You're dumb.

Very mature but what should i expect from a Raja bell fan ...

But seriously I dont think they should trade anyone ...BUT if they have to for financial reasons I would want Wally's expiring (save money) and verejao would play well in a run and gun system plus he and Barbosa have a connection ...

Verajao is a worthless piece of shit who wouldn't fit well in any system. Overrated Cleveland scrub who no one would know about if he didn't play with Lebron.

In what is a complete turn from what GM Danny Ferry stated to reporters just days ago, it seems the Cavs are intent on making the biggest splash of the day, by obtaining the rights to Suns center Shaquille O’Neal. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer is reporting (http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/02/cavs_being_hugely_active_going.html) today that the Cavs are offering Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to the Suns for Shaq. With Amare Stoudemire now set to stay in Phoenix, at least for now, all signs point to Shaq being on his way out. Things will get very busy in the few hours that remain till the trade deadline.
ESPN.com is reporting (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=TradeTalkRoundup-090218) the Knicks are closing in on a deal that will involve both the Chicago Bulls and OKC Thunder. The deal would send Larry Hughes to New York, along with Chris Wilcox. The Bulls would get Tim Thomas and Jerome James, and the Thunder would get Malik Rose.
The Sacramento Bee (http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/sports/kings/archives/019784.html)is reporting a deal that is done between the Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Kings are sending Bobby Jackson and Shelden Williams to Minnesota for Rashad McCants and Calvin Booth. Sacramento has continued to state their moves are solely for financial purposes, and they are picking up two expiring contracts in McCants and Booth.
In other news, one person who was not happy that Tyson Chandler failed his physical was the Thunder’s Joe Smith. ESPN.com is reporting (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=TradeTalkRoundup-090218) that Smith is now telling people he wants to get his contract bought out, and sign with the Boston Celtics.

Shaquille O'Neal and LeBron James on the same team?

Let's Make A Deal

Here's how the trade between the Bulls and Kings looks in ESPN.com's NBA Trade Machine

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com that a deal to make that happen is highly unlikely before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trading deadline, but multiple sources close to the situation confirmed that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix have indeed discussed the possibility.

In a proposal first reported by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic were offered to the Suns for O'Neal as part of the Cavs' well-chronicled quests to add one more big man for the playoffs and show LeBron that they will do anything necessary to win a championship.

Yet sources with knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com that, entering the final two hours before the deadline, neither team was optimistic about reaching an agreement.

It's believed that the Suns have pushed Cleveland to substitute Wally Szczerbiak's $13.8 million expiring contract for Wallace, which would result in the huge financial windfall that initially prompted Phoenix to make Amare Stoudemire and O'Neal available in trades earlier this month.

Phoenix on Monday began informing teams that Stoudemire was no longer available after replacing first-year coach Terry Porter with Alvin Gentry. The Suns, though, remain eager to reduce their payroll by at least $7 million and up to $9 million to avoid paying luxury tax next season.

If the Suns were willing to accept Wallace and Pavlovic, they would slice $5.5 million from next season's books, as Wallace's salary decreases from $14.5 million this season to $14 million in 2009-10 and because only $1.5 million of Pavlovic's $5 million salary next season is guaranteed.

The Suns' desire to take back Szczerbiak and Pavlovic is understandable. In that scenario, Phoenix would erase $19.5 million from next season's payroll.

Confident that O'Neal's close relationship with James would offset any concerns about making such a bold midseason acquisition, Cleveland shifted its sights to Shaq after bids for a variety of big men -- including Washington's Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler and Los Angeles Clippers center Marcus Camby -- were rejected.

O'Neal has been rejuvenated this season at 36 in spite of the Suns' overall struggles, earning a Western Conference reserve spot in last Sunday's All-Star Game via the coaches' vote and sharing MVP honors with former Los Angeles Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant.

Smith is a bucking fitch for wanting to play for the Celtics.
A few seasons ago, Phoenix is the place to go, now it's Boston's turn. Ill give the Celtics 2 years before they implode like the Suns.
