Microsoft's off my computer for good. Linux is finally reaching a point where hardware support is decent, and my system is so much faster with my LinuxFromScratch (http://lfs.osuosl.org/lfs/news.html) / Slackware (http://www.slackware.org) + GNOME (http://gnome.org/) hybrid than it ever was under Windoze (http://forums.overclockersclub.com/Windows_98_Source_Code_Leaked_-t38308.html). It boots way more quickly, shuts down more quickly, never gets sluggish if it hasn't had a reboot in the last day or two (unlike XP which slows to a crawl without regular reboots or 98 which will always force a reboot through some kind of crash after more than a day or two of use). With a reiserfs filesystem it still takes the same time to boot even if it was shut down improperly. The system is stable as hell, and a hell of a lot more secure too. The only time I ever reboot it is if I acidentally pull the power cable out of the wall or build a new kernel.
