I was gonna go root for WAZOO.
No way I'm paying that much for tickets
Maybe we oughtta start writing, calling & emailing the White House so we can get Santa Obama to buy us all tickets since we can't afford them otherwise

Huge fan base. Due to the large Catholic population they are naturally very popular in San Antonio. This is going to count as one of their Home games.

Here is an article from the Valero Alama Bowl Chairman about why they are coming here.

Interesting. The Catholic connection is understandable, but why aren't the Irish then playing Boston College in SA instead of Washington?

Oh well...if the Irish have another sucky season, they'll need fans in another city because South Bend is about to kick them to the curb.

Weis sucks!

Why is there so much hate for Notre Dame?

I don't hate Notre Dame. I don't hate any team.

I dislike them quite a bit though. :)

For me, I have a problem with that school thinking its better than every other school when in reality they haven't been relevant in almost 20 years. They have their own network just for football because they feel they are too good for a conference. They bitched and whined in order to be included in the BCS (if they joined a conference..this wouldn't be a problem). I have no problem with fans overrating their team, that is what fans do but when a institution does it...that I don't like.

My question wasn't being directed towards you, just in general.

I do get bored seeing them every weekend on NBC. :rolleyes

I know...I was just giving you my reasons. Others have different ones I would imagine.

Sounds very much like a description of the Dallas Cowboys. Especially the irrelevant part.

The Cowboys don't have their own national TV contract and they have won something since 1988. And Cowboys fans(some anyway) tend to overrate their team, not the organization. Although the selling of "America's Team" t-shirts doesn't help. :lol

Now Bresihac....he hates. He feels actual hate toward the Cowboys. When the practice facility collapsed he was upset no one was killed.

Right. Dallas is still irrelevant in the NFL Championship picture nevertheless.

As of this past season, I would agree...this season isn't looking that promising either. It looks like both our teams could be looking up in the division.

ND is to college football what the Yankees are to MLB, the Cowboys are to the NFL, and the Lakers are to the NBA: the team everyone loves to hate. Even when all of those teams are mediocre, or even abjectly bad, they are hyped and televised, and generally shoved down the throats of America.

Because when I first posted this thread, the College Sports forum was shut down, do you remember? I guess not.
