is guarding Gasol pretty decently tonight. I wish the Spurs would have kept him. He's slimmed down since leaving SA, too.

If he really can guard Gasol then we should take him..we got nothing to lose anyway. I wonder if he can guard Garnett as well. But i dont really trust that dude

I never understood why he never caught on here. He was the only player Spurs player in recent memory, other than Duncan, that had some semblance of a post-up game.

I think if he would have had a bit more time in the system he should have caught on. He does have a pretty decent post-up game. He also seemed a bit out of shape when he was with the Spurs. He looks in much better shape now.

maybe its just that anyone looks better than our 6-8 starting center.

6-8?

Yall are all fucking retarded. Beno sucked ass when he was here but isn't doing too bad now. I didn't know the Spurs FO was supposed to see into the future. And even if they could it's not like we even lost a good player.

Let's get him cause we have nothing to lose? I could have sworn we were fighting for the second seed.

Anyone looks better than our 6'8 center? Really? Cause I'll take Bonner's 3s over Ely's "post game" any day.

Ely was decent, you have to admit. he wasn't too old and could have helped the spurs longer than he did.

why didn't we keep him??

Ely can't jump anymore. He does have a decent post game but no athleticism anymore. If he knows his role, he can be effective, but sometimes he gets caught up in scoring.

6-8?

Bonner is actually 6-10, but when he jumps he becomes 6-8.

Ely never got on the floor here. I could not tell much about him.

I saw more of Jackie Butler, while he was here, than I did of Ely.

starting center 6'8"? if you mean that they're starting matt bonner, he's 6'10" (supposedly)

Bonner is indeed 6'10". He just has short arms and no hops.

IIRC the Spurs traded for Ely purely to get below the luxury tax and never really seemed interested in him.
