View Full Version : This season has been the easiest for Spurs in the last 10 years

I am amazed at how many games I watch and how the majority of the time I can't watch for the full 48 minutes, because they are so boring. Who's going to give the Spurs some real competition this year? I don't see any team in the NBA that gives us any problems. No one cares about last season. As far as this season goes, we've already gotten wins against everyone we needed to get wins against. The Celtics, Lakers, Nuggets, Mavs, Suns, Rockets, Jazz, Hornets...who else is left?
This has to be the easiest regular season the Spurs have had in a while. If they lose games, it's because they don't care. Most of our losses have been BS and to shit teams such as the Bucks, Rockets, Raptors, and Knicks. The funny thing is our losses have been due to bench players such as Roko Ukik, Nate Robinson, Jordan Farmar, Trevor Ariza, and Luther Head having career nights, and a bunch of other players no one has heard of. The so-called star players of the league do not play well against us and that is why no one will challenge the Spurs in the West this year. I can't think of any star player that has had a dominating performance against the Spurs.
Most of the wins have been routine and nothing to get excited about. There are only 3 wins this year that have been exciting. The 133-126 double OT win against Dallas was pretty exciting. As was the Christmas Day game with Mason's gamewinner against Phoenix, and the Boston game with Mason's gamewinner. As for the rest of the wins we've had against teams such as the Lakers, Nuggets, Rockets, Jazz, and Hornets? No big deal. We just went out and did what we had to do. No big thing, no trash talking involved. Just taking care of business. I am glad we have Dallas this week, those games are always thrillers. Dallas still gives us more competition than any other team in the league, and are our main rivals. I find it amusing how many people are picking the Lakers. It's mostly due to history. The Magic/Kareem Lakers of the 80's and Kobe/Shaq Lakers of the early 2000's were good teams, and won 8 championships total. But in trying to list the great Lakers lineups of all-time, do you really think names such as Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom fit in that mold? :lol
As for the East, it's pretty non-existent outside Boston. The defending champion Celtics may as well be the only Eastern Conference team in the league, because teams 2-15 are trash. And we've already beaten Boston, so the East is irrelevant as far as challenging the Spurs.
So, with all of that in mind, it's apparent that this season may be the easiest road thus far to a championship. In 2003, we still had the Kobe/Shaq Lakers to deal with, the Sacramento Kings still in their prime, the Dallas Mavericks who were back then contenders but haven't been a contender since..in 2005 we had the Phoenix Suns in their prime with Amare at his peak who hasn't been the same since his surgery. We had the pesky Sonics. And the defensive monster Detroit Pistons who took us to 7 games. All of these teams gave us competition. 2007...I guess you could say we had weak competition that year as well.
2009, who's going to challenge us? Boston? We already beat them. Lakers? Already beat them too. Cleveland? Swept them in 2007. And Mo Williams is not a difference maker.
I'm glad the Spurs are getting 60 wins this season. It would be a shame to do otherwise in such an easy regular season.

Lakers will be very tough to beat in the playoffs, but not impossible. PGs like Parker and Paul will present problems with them just because Fisher is too slow, and Farmar isn't good enough defensively to hang with them. Still, Kobe, Odom, and Gasol do present alot of problems. Add a healthy Bynum to the mix and it gets more difficult. The only question is will Odom going to the bench help or hurt them.

In order to truly appreciate and respect this post by SpursDynasty, I found it only fitting to respond in kind with such a thoughtful and thoroughly thought-out thinking piece to thoughtfully express the thoughts that I'm thinking. So with that said, I think it's extremely and utterly important to let you know that this entire post will be written in such a manner to allow you, as a reader, to ponder my thoughts that have melted my brain to a mind numbing mush much like the way SD graces these boards with poetic and justifiably indignant pieces of articulate feces. It is my endeavor to really speak as much nonsensical nonsense as my brain will allow my fingers to type in one setting. And considering how much of a verbose bastard I am, I can be rather certain that my attempts are very promising due to the fact that much like some of those who share the love of gibberish post making, this might be the most action I'll get in a while. Such is the lowly yet undervalued responsibility of a messageboard gimp. Stick the ball in my mouth and strap it in. We're about to get medieval on that ass.
For many seconds of many hours of many days of many weeks of pure unadulterated absence from one needling nitwit and nimrod who nothing more but self banned his ninny ass, the peace was too solemn, too peaceful, as the redundancy elucidates my point. And, the short attention spans of the mindless followers and heathens and worshipers and clones fell lifeless or wandered indifferently around the creases and crevices of messageboard purgatory, the salvation rotted away in eager anticipation to be reborn. A savior in such a sense that his unsavory style saves little embarrassment to his asinine pseudo savant opinions. Is he a life saver? Well, he does suck. There is a hole in the middle. So, who are we to judge pettiness and over self worth?
I wonder. I ponder. I'm fonder of Hondas than Toyotas. Oh what a feeling. To Yoda we should go. Find the answers we might. Or should we just stay behind, be kind, please rewind. Eat free swine. Me mind? No, of course not. If you're still reading this, then it's time to throw random words that might offer indication that you're missing something truly thought provoking, like "Lakers obviously suck!" Because it is this that will stir genuine discussion just as "Dwight Howard is extremely overrated." Finding escape and retribution in words. Words, words, words. Something is rotten in Dyn's mark. Spurious. Coach Spurrior is furious. Sperm whales have dynamic spurts of dynamo movements. But they wouldn't make great pets. Trust me.
Or don't trust me. Just watch and see. You all will see that I was right. It's too easy. I'm just writing what I'm supposed to be writing in response to SD. Nothing to see here folks. Nothing but he got jokes. Great drumming. My Pops said this was the way to go. Go see a ho. Like at a brothel in Nevada, she had a Adam's apple. Man, the saddle was hard to remove. But once you get used to it, it's all down hill from there. Could we be courageous enough to dare you to make sense? You literally make cents. I sense you're way too intense. And, since, that's the case, I'll let you know my true intents. Tint your hair, better yet cut your afro like Iverson and Ben Wallace. Be real. B.Real. Fareal. It's no big deal.
I don't think I've written enough nonsense yet to match your dissertation. Insert your face and hands into a shredder, like the rat from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This is fun. no wonder you wrote that many words in the same post not having anything to do with one another. You deserve your own championship :lobt2: for that. Add a little smiley so it's not just one long paragraph after long paragraph. Pair of rafts to get off your island. One for your imaginary friends and the other for your ego, we go anywhere you want, Kilargo? Kokomo? Cocoa mo'? Coat limo? I don't know either at this point no one ever reads this far into a post this long. Fuck what is wrong with me? What is wrong with you? Did you not see how fucking long your post was? This is ridiculous. Ree dick, you lush. JJ Redickulously gay. Trade for that guy. Something about the Spurs got it easy this season and will beat the Lakers because they have no hall of fame players on that team and they only get lucky making shots.
LeBron is overrated.
Dwight Howard is overrated.
Thanks to Boston last night for showing the Nuggets are frauds.

1 - SA only is 1-0 against the defending champs but they are known to have Laker hangover.
2 - SA is tied with the season series so far to LA but they have 1 win when SA was fully healthy and that was at the buzzer. The other game they got ran off the court and the game was over before the 4th started.
3 - No way is Cleveland the same team from 07 because LeBron is a much better player since then. Not to mention they have better shooters surrounding him with Mo and West - while it was Pavlovic and Gibson - guys coming off the bench for Cleveland now.
I'm not saying SA is done but they are hardly in the driver's seat and cleary not a Top 3 team. But hey, if denial helps you get to sleep tonight, let's put a sign up so no one trips over you.

What's even funnier - only once in the past 10 years (not counting * season) has SA failed to win 56 games (.683 winning%). Even * year they won at a better rate (.740)
This year they are on pace to only win 55 games - which is the worse since 99-00 when they won 53 and got bounced in the first round. And finishing 18-10 (.642) won't be easy without Ginobili (who SA is 8-8 without), esp with 3 vs Por, 2 vs Cle, Hou & NO, and 1 vs Bos, LA still to play.
So if you really want to be accurate - this likely will be SA's worse season record in the past 10 years. I guess they can't handle easy.
NOTE: Befors Spurs fans take offense, by * I'm not pissing on the ring. Simply pointing out the season was different in games played. SA deserved the title that year.
