Makes me wonder if a PG has scored 37 and 39 points in back to back games, or when the last time that occurred.

I'll have to do some research and find out..

Tony was amazing tonight, played with alot of guts and heart. I can't believe he was able to sustain this kind of effort after last night's game. Not only was he in attack mode, but he dished out 9 assists. Chris Paul wouldn't be able to do what Tony did tonight. Great great game Tony.

Statistically, he's been the 3rd best PG behind CP3 and Devin Harris this season and the gap is very close to Harris. Tonight's game should put him in 2nd place.

Nets sitting at 26-32. I'm sorry...when you're the point guard (team general) your team has to be at least at .500 to be in the top 3 PGs in the league.

Indeed. Harris is doing great on a SHIT team. Parker has to score with Manu and TD around to take away touches. Neither CP3 or DWill have star talent like TP, thus they are the focus more, and get more pts/asts.

The fact that the team is playing w/o tim and manu helps Tony to increase his assists numbers. He is now the only one who can really creates his own shoot, it shows that Tony IMO is underated regarding the assists. Of course I prefer anyday a 20 pts 6 assists with tim and manu healthy than a 40 10 w/o them but it shows clearly that right now the race for best PG is established like that : 1. cp3 2. tony 3. DW 4. DH

I agree.

one of the things that has made the Spurs backcourt so tricky over the years is TP's and Manu's switching their roles all the time... You never know will end up playing the one or the two when they are together on the court... :tu

I'm thinking that being on a shitty team would make it harder to be a productive PG......

Clank!! There goes another assist....

Fumbled Pass!!! There goes another assist.....

Getting doubled to take the ball out of your hands on a nightly basis must suck for production too.

Is this the same flawed logic which caused Durant to be left off of the All-Star roster?!?!

You know, there is something else to illustrate that apg is probably the most overrated statistic.

NOH apg: 19.76
NOH 4 games without Paul: 19.5 apg

This is not a knock on Paul. He is clearly the best PG in the league.
But, I believe individual apg number is just an illustration of how responsibilities are shared in your team, not the ultimate "passing skills/court vision" measurement...

Edit: last 10+ apg PG with a ring

Yes Tony is the man right now... It's amazing how much he has matured in the last 7 years. He has come such a long way. There aren't many players that would invest that much time to get better after already having 2 championships. Tony had his starting job and could have been complacent, and completely revamped his jump shot putting himself from a top 8-10 PG to top 3... Doesn't seem like that long ago that he needed speedy claxton to carry the load in the playoffs much less carry the team... I hope Pop keeps his play the last 2 game in the back of his head and just remember if we want to go small at times during game to just let tony take over

with a tp at this level, tim duncan can play 2 or 3more years with less pressure but thanks to the skills and size of duncan spurs can stay at top level for 7 years again!

No offense, but it is quite simple, every single play goes thru DH, therefore, if the Nets score he will get a stat, no matter what. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Tony plays with Manu and Tim, so he could very easily not be the player who the offense is going thru alot of the time. I think CP3 is very close to the DH side in that he only has 1 star, but his C can jump like crazy, so that's at least 2 asists that are givens from oops. Plus, CP3 is the only true creator on the Hornets, unlike Tony who has Manu and Timmy getting the roleplayers open shots as well.

Hence, great players look better than they are when they have 1 or no other stars, because the load isn't divided, so it's all on them.
