You aren't getting past the first round of the playoffs (if you even make them) and instead of getting some good young prospects for years to come you'll end up with nothing when Sheed decides to sign with us next season.

Um ok.

Didn't want what you had to offer, and we didn't want to add any contract to the payroll, even if it was just one year. It has gotten to the point to be very obvious the Pistons were going to be bad regardless, and what the Spurs had to offer wasn't enough to make them regret not trading Rasheed to the Spurs.

So, it's cool. Thanks for your thoughts.

Is Sheed going to resign with the Pistons after the season's over? If not, why not trade him for picks, at least?

Very likely that Sheed will not re-sign with the Pistons this summer.

And, it would depend on what kind of picks you are talking about whether it would have been better to trade him for "picks."

Don't want or need second round picks. Pistons have three second round picks this summer, two of them should be pretty high. As for first round picks, if we're talking about the Spurs, they don't have a first round pick this year and because of that, I don't believe they would have been able to trade their 2010 first round pick either, at least not this far in advance having traded their 2009 first rounder already. Even if they could have, the Pistons don't want a late first round pick anyway. All that is would be a second round talent that they would have to give guaranteed money, taking up cap space in that 2010 free agent summer.

So, actually, no. The Pistons would rather just let Rasheed walk than get picks the Spurs had to offer.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't even referring exclusively to the Spurs. I just don't see how the Pistons feel that keeping Sheed for another half-year in a non-title season is good for them. Surely someone would have given them a first rounder for him.
