1st half thoughts:

Dirk being aggressive, and has 20 points. It's the Thunder, but I like the body language from beloved Dirk.

Sloppy half overall.

Gerald Green got a lot of 2nd quarter minutes. Eh, not sure what to make of it. Kinda a black hole, but he is energy off the bench. Was erratic at times.

Kevin Durant left game with sprained ankle.

We allowed the Bucks to go on a 22-4 run in the last 3:42 to take a one point lead until Chandler luckily made a tip-in with 3 secs. Pathetic effort.

Ghazi

I dunno how you are down 7 with 3:56 to play with Durant out and Thunder bieng 3-24 on road... but we've shot like shit and rebounded like shit, I guess that's why.

Let's see if we can pull some shit outta our asses.

lol if Mavs win this one. Our boys in blue have had so many fluke ass wins this year. I swear we're a 29-28 team masquerading a 34-23 team.

But not many other teams in the West are better besides Lakers or Spurs. Mavs could steal a 1st round series.

Live by the 3 die by the 3.......tonight Dallas was able to live, but until this team gets a legit low post player they'll never be a true threat in the West and that's not hate....it's just the stone cold truth.

We're 4-21 from behind the arc this game FWIW.

Dallas isn't a live by 3 die by 3 team, we suck at shooting 3's.

Actually that's exactly what they did....their crappy 3pt shooting allowed a Durant"less" team to stretch them to the wire and take them to overtime (dying by the 3) if they had a legit post player to throw the ball into this game would have never went to overtime.

Then in overtime they start jacking up 3's.....3 straight misses in a row, luckily Dirk and Kidd hit a couple (live by the 3) and they won.

Dallas' team is completely structured ass backwards, if Dirk had one damn player who could dominate in the post/draw defenders in and take that weight off his shoulders of him trying to be the "big/post option" on the team it would take the pressure off of him and make him a even greater player.

Don't tell that to Cuban or Donnie. Erica Dampier is the second best Center in the league.

Been saying this for years. I don't think Cuban and the idiots running our team realize from a basketball perspective just how important post scoring is. It makes the game easier for everyone, especially players like Dirk or our guards. Too many holes in our team to overcompensate for a deficiency in this area, hell we couldn't overcome it for the past 8-9 years. But hey, at least we turned down a trade that would have made Kaman our franchises best center ever by default. Hell, if we had a post scorer we probably don't lose to GS in 2007. Gotta punish those little guys if they want to play small ball, not try to run and beat them at their own game.

C'mon this is the same team that has been starting Erica fucking Dampiera at center for years, who had Shawn Bradley before, who gave Diop the full MLE.

They know the importance of great post scorers.

I too fancy a scoring big man, but it isn't a necessity to win a title. After all, we did win a title in 2006 with Erick Dampier as our starting center, and the Celtics last year won it all with Kendrick Perkins as their starting center, and I think I'd prefer Damp over Perkins.

The Mavs roster had some flaws in recent years but offset it with efficient 2 PT jump shooting, 3 PT jump shooting, and getting to the line often. Now the 3's don't fall at the same clip they used to and getting to the FT line is unheard of.

With a legit presence in the post Wade doesn't get all the foul calls he did and Dallas has a title right now...

and K.G. can score in the paint if he has too and is a presence down there (especially on the defensive end) , also Perkins is a legit threat down there as well....is he great, no, but the guy can play solid defense and keeps teams honest.

To say a post presence isn't necessary to win a title is crazy.....the only team that I have watched dominate without good post players to drop the ball off two is the Chicago Bulls, but they had the greatest player to ever play. The lack of a legit post player cost Dallas a ring and all you have to do is pull up all the teams that have won a ring and 99% of them have a good/great big man.

Mavs interior defense really isn't that bad, atleast compared to the perimeter defense.

Damp and Diop were serviceable presences that year, but not offensively. The lack of paint scoring is the problem, as paint scoring is almost always necessary to win a title.

James Singleton should be our new starting center...damp is the new backup

Mavs interior D appears to be bad because our perimeter D is shit...so much for those defensive stoppers Rick and Donnie rave about in Devean George and Wright and Barea is the worst fuckin defender in the league.

You know your team sucks at D when it must resort to playing zone the last 5 minutes of regulation and all of OT

If the Mavs wanted someone who could control the paint, they should have kept Tractor Traylor instead of trading him for Dirk.
