View Full Version : Thoughts on my beloved Thunder tonight

Seeing that I'm the first Oklahoma City Thunder fan on this site, I'm going to give my game thoughts.

Well my beloved Thunder lost in overtime to the Dallas Mavericks, but it was a mighty effort. I have a feeling Thunder fans are more proud of their team's effort than Mavs fans are of their team.

The most vexing thing of the night was the loss of Kevin Durant in the 1st quarter. If he had played, there's no doubt the Thunder would have won this game in regulation. But Jeff Green is a great Pippen to Durant's Jordan....I have a feeling my team is going to win a championship before the Mavericks will.

Now how humiliating will THAT be for Mavs fans? If the Thunder win a title before the Mavs do?

Get better soon KD :(

OKC's odds of winning a title in the next 7-8 years are indeed greater than that of the Mavs.

Jeff Green is better than any player on the Mavs not named Dirk.

Durant/Green is the new Jordan/Pippen. People talk about the Blazers being a future dynasty....nope. Once the Thunder gets more experience, they'll be the dynasty.

Thunder aren't as bad as their record, they've just had some poor luck in close games. Some is due to youth, some is just bad luck like the Nuggets last second shots to beat them.

As for our beloved Mavs, we've been lucky in the close games. 11-3 in games decided by 5 or less. I guess you could say we're not as good as our record, which isn't even that great.

But such is life for a mediocre team. Lose 2/3 against the good competition, and here and there have dog fights with the bottom feeders of the league.

I wouldn't be surprised if we lose to OKC on Monday.

Decent news night that JET may be back in the next few games.

Expect the season to "fall apart" (as if it is a good season anyway lol) on the 4 game road trip @ PHX @ GS @ PORT @ LAL

Although I still think we'll make the playoffs.

I think Durant might be better than Dirk though, not sure. It's pretty close.

He will be in 1-2 years.

wtf is with thunder and turnover. i swear when it looked like they have all the momentum after the 5 point play by westbrook. they turnover like 3 straight times in the over time.

Mono, it really is comforting to know our teams will be battling it out for western supremacy over the next decade isn't it? I can't wait for the WCF in about 5 years. Gay Mayo vs. Durant/Green will be epic.

OKC could be the next Dallas.

Not only is the Durant/Green lethal, the addition of Chandler makes this team much more dangerous with his rebounding and defense. With they need to do is move Westbrook to the SG and sign Jannero muthafucking Pargo to play the point.

I agree. O.J. Mayo is pretty gay and he's the next plastic man.

He'll be the most talented offensive player in the league, ahead of Lebron even.

And yet you guys struggle to beat us on our home floor without Chandler, Paul, and West. You have a decent future, but Conley is not the answer at PG. Mayo and Gay will be nice players, but don't think they will be perennial All-Stars. Gasol's solid at Center. You guys will be a playoff team.

Its ok. Gay is good, but he's no Brandon Roy.

The only way Mayo won't be a staple in the all-star game is because of the team he's on.

Exactly. Our rebounding stunk that night. We were outrebounded 64-37 or something. Pathetic effort.

I was about 4 feet behind the Hornet's bench that night. I think Chris Paul is gay.

The Hornets are expected to get out rebounded by 27. They're a mediocre rebounding team.

The thing with Durant is that he is too "lanky", while LeBron was much bigger at this time during his career and gaining a lot more muscle. I think Durant is progressing faster, game wise, than LeBron was though. Durant just needs to develop more strength.

I wonder if Lebron will ever have to answer for his freakish size at such a young age. Seriously, his build was freakish when he entered the league. I don't have any proof obviously, but no one in the media never talks about Lebron and his size.

Magic Johnson had an interview with him last weekend and they talked about it. Sports Illustrated had an article on it a few weeks ago, too. I think it's called the "Power of LeBron".

Edit: Yep, here is that article I was talking about: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/chris_ballard/01/27/lebron.james/
