"The Texans have signed Arizona defensive lineman Antonio Smith to replace Anthony Weaver at left defensive end. Weaver was waived earlier this week. Smith, 27, spent his first five seasons with Arizona and started for the Cardinals in their Super Bowl loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Smith came to Houston on Friday night and spent Saturday meeting with Texans coach Gary Kubiak and his assistants while general manager Rick Smith negotiated a five-year, $35 million contract with Antonio Smith's agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Of that, $12.5 million is guaranteed."

Nice pickup:clap

Good pickup. He was awesome in the playoffs and Super Bowl so hopefully that carries over to 2009. So I guess we can mark off any DE in the draft.

Now, they will probably trade up in the draft and gain an extra third or fourth rounder. In the first round, they'll probably go for brian cushing, or rey meuliuga or however the fuck ya spell it,. 2nd round = William Moore SS. Not so sure about the third round, but they will draft a big RB in the 4th, like a Andre Brown from NC state.

This is a good pickup and they didn't have to really break the bank. Houston is finally getting some love from free agents.

Houston got a great player and a great locker room presence. All his teammates loved him in AZ and he broke out in the playoffs last year. He Mario Williams and Okoye will be a line to be reckoned with.

im happy with this addition and now on to OLB in the draft. I wonder if there is anyway we can get KC's number 3 pick to get Aaron Curry.

Not without giving up AJ. That's a pipe dream. KC is rebuilding and there is no way they give up the #3 pick.
