View Full Version : I'd take Utah over the Lakers in a playoff series

It's like the Spurs won't even meet the Lakers in the WCF's.

Utah is back on the rise with Boozer in the lineup. The Lakers may want to think twice about breaking their backs and running up scores just get to the #1 seed. If they run into Utah in the first or second round, they're done. Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer, Paul Millsap..these guys are trouble for L.A. If Utah finishes 3rd, 6th, or 8th, and LA is still at the #1 seed, look out. Count out the rest of the softies in Denver, Houston, New Orleans, Portland, and Dallas against the Lakers.

Boozer was worthless against the Lakers last year. Their frontline gave him way too many problems.

Jazz don't matchup well with the Lakers... and that's with Bynum out.

The Jazzholes are though mentally and physically.

They play cheap, dirty, and hard.

Floplinko, Bruiser, and D-Will are pretty legit players. Beside from them, they have that pansy 3 point shooting center in Okur that creates so many match up problems.

The entire series is being played in Utah?

That's the only way the Jazz would have a chance of winning it.

in that case..the Lakers should drop to the 2nd seed and watch the Jazz eliminate the Spurs. Right SD?

Jazz are a scary team, but their weakness (poor performance in road games) will probably be their undoing in the playoffs.

You know, SD is usually a sucky poster, but at least he takes some risks in in his posts and predictions.

LOL typical SD.

The Jazz are simply not better.

Same Jazz team as last year, while the Lakers are better and have Ariza and Drew in this years series if they meet

I disagree completely with this statement. True it's pretty much the same roster but the team is different. Ronnie Brewer is a better player. CJ Miles is a better player. Kirilenko is now coming off the bench which makes our bench better than the Lakers bench. Brevin Knight is a much better back up PG than Hart was. Plus you have to take into account that our star players have missed most of the season which means fresher legs once the playoffs start.

Look..I'm not gonna sit here and say that we'll beat the Lakers because I'm not sure we can. I just disagree with you saying we're the same team as last year.

Again, I am not trash talking against the Lakers. In all sports, some teams are better than others. The Jazz happen to be better than the Lakers head to head. Just like the Spurs are better than the Clippers, nothing big. It is what it is. This isn't a personal attack against the Lakers or their fans or anyone else. Just a Utah team being a better team than the Lakers. Again, no trash talking ...

Where's a similar thread to this one (at least the issue being discussed at some point was more or less the same, the Jazz vs. Lakers matchup) where I was arguing that Boozer was under-appreciated as an offensive player? I can't find it now, can someone dig it for me?

The Jazz were a Deron Williams 3-pointer away from Game 7 with the Lakers. What if that shot goes in? This is a game of made or missed shots. Any one shot can change an entire series. He just missed the shot, it doesn't make the Jazz any less able to force a Game 7, make their shots in that game, and win the series...again, it was just one missed shot away from a Game 7. You either make your shots or you miss them...he missed that one, doesn't necessarily means the Jazz couldn't have forced a Game 7 and won the series. Things just played out the way they did. The Lakers definitely pulled the upset in that series, as the Jazz were the favorites to win that series and go to the WCF's a 2nd straight year.

why are you always on their dick like that? Yet you are the exact opposite with LA.

I have long stated that the Spurs and Utah are the top 2 teams in the West. Utah's presence in the West has been blurred by injuries this year. Deron Williams missed 14 games, Carlos Boozer has missed 44 games. His 17.3 PPG on 54% shooting with 10 rebounds a game would probably have Utah be the #2 or 3 seed if everyone is healthy all year. No one has noticed that these guys are on an 8 game win streak right now. Utah isn't going anywhere. It won't be enough for L.A. to just worry about SA. Utah is just a solid team that goes out and plays their game, no bullshit like L.A.

Utah could possibly take the Lakers to 7 in a 7-game series. I don't see why not. All the Jazz would have to do is steal ONE game on the road.

lakers beat the jazz last year and no ariza. its teh same teams over again and how ariza is back. maybe its less of a challenge for lakers. utah will get 40 free throws at home but lakers sweep their home court advantage and then take 1 out of utah and series over

HAHAHA the Lakers will easily knock out the jazz just like they would against the spurs.

No competitions in the west whatsoever man only teams we respect are the celtics and magic, and they're out in the East buddy.:lol

I just haven't seen anything from Utah that even scares me when they come to Staples. Their road woes are well documented and never more so than when they play in Staples. Jazz are a solid team with a number of good players. I just don't think their frontline is consistently tough enough to hang with the Spurs and Lakers. THeir depth represents a tough challenge tho

you're right especially when Utah is pretty much the same team as last year and they got owned by LA.

Utah still owns houston though, i would not want to play them in the playoffs again, too many deep scars

Spurs and Celts ONLY thing between us and another title ...
I respect the Jazz and especially Dwill he is the BEST big game point gaurd in NBA right now ...
But spurs, rox, hornets blazers nugs are should be/worried about jazz we are watching Boston and to lesser extent Cavs Spurs are always tough as well so they have earned our respect ...
In the grand scheme of things only Spurs and Celts can really beat the Lakers in a 7 game series

I agree with the fact that Utah is capable to beating any team in the West,
but I just can't see them beating the lakers in a 7 game series..
Last year is a good example.
Or are you just hoping the spurs dont meet the lakers in the playoffs?
You pussy. :lol
