With Denver losing and the Rockets winning, there is a tie for 3rd. Lakers have a controlling lead in the West. Here's 2-9:

2. Spurs 40-19
3. Rockets/Nuggets 39-22 2 games back
5. Hornets/Blazers 37-22 3 games back
7. Jazz 37-23 3.5 back
8. Mavs 36-24 4.5 back
9. Suns 34-26 6.5 back

the rockets will lose tommorrow in Utah.
If the rockets win in Utah off of a back2back than you can pretty much win anywhere.

I just don't see it happening

Why the hell did we have to blow that lead against Chicago?

Houston's blown leads this season to horrible teams are going to cost them the chance at the #2 sead.

Its really hard winning in Utah on a back-to-back. Altitude, annoying fans, usually get a fresh Jazz team. We played both of our games in Utah the next night after playing at the Lakers :bang

If the Rockets don't get the 3rd seed, then we should. I'm confident we can pass Denver and Portland. Utah will get the 4th seed most likely, but I think we have a really good chance to get the 3rd spot. I think we're a better team on the road compared to the Blues.

Denver is on the way down. 5-5 over the last 10 games. I don't see them staying up for long. Rest of the Western Conf teams are going to pass them up. George Karl has annoyed his players to the point that they don't listen to him anymore as evidence of Carmelo's refusal to come out of the game leading to his suspension. Surging teams are the Rockets 8-2, Hornets 7-3, Utah 9-1, and Portland 7-3.

Lakers are also 7-3 so don't see anyone catching them.

Utah gets some favorable scheduling. It seems most of the good teams play Utah on back to backs. Hmm.

Utah doesn't play home games on Sunday so that really helps them when the schedule is made

The 3 Division champions get the top 3 seeds so the Rockets and Hornets can only get as high as #4 as long as they're behind San Antonio.

Wrong. The 3 division champions are only guaranteed a top 4 spot. The best record out of the rest of the teams also is guaranteed a top 4 spot. Those 4 teams are then seeded according to their records.

Therefore, the Rockets or Hornets can be the 3rd seed.

and the 5th seed can have homecourt against the 4th seed if they have a better record.......like last year.

Doesn't matter

Rockets will be the number 2 seed by season's end where were were supposed to be at the beginning of the season. The soap opera is over. The Rockets have a consistent rotation now and are finally gelling.

One man we can all agree wasn't a choker, the best player in Rockets history, and personally a top 5 great in my book. You might have noticed his jersey hanging in the rafters at your recent first rockets game that your parents bought tickets for your 12th birthday. He's the big #34 up there and personally my favorite player of all time. Congrats on being a fan of a team with at least SOMETHING to be proud of, although that was long ago when you were either a fetus in your mothers womb or not yet conceived. :toast

I see that mavs only have 2 numbers retired:
15 Brad Davis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brad_Davis_(basketball)), G, 1980–92

Now that you mention it, they were part of that great Mavericks team that took the lakers to 7 games in the WCF in I believe it was '88. Combined with the 2006 Mavs, that makes 2 times in this franchises history that we have put together championship caliber teams. The Rockets have only had one championship caliber core, from 94-96. 2 > 1. Have a nice day, fucker :toast

You're very wrong here sir. The Rockets had great teams in the 80s and pushed it to the WCF many times. Then the 90s happened where we won many championships happened and then later on, the Jazz were allowed to get away with murder. Hell, Karl Malone raped people on AND off the court.

2. Spurs 40-19
3. Rockets/Nuggets 39-22 2 games back
5. Hornets/Blazers 37-22 3 games back
7. Jazz 37-23 3.5 back
8. Mavs 36-24 4.5 back
9. Suns 34-26 6.5 back

This time of the season you can only look at the loss column. So there are actually 4 teams tie at 22 losses: Rocks, Nugs, Hornets & Blazers.

Changed it due to the Dallas vs SA matchup in 2006. The two best teams met in the Semis due to the seeding.
