I need a good mag to subscribe to. I used to subscribe to Reason, and I liked it, and was wondering about other magazines along the same lines... or similar, but less "dry", ie more entertaining/readable ...

I'm a "less government, more personal responsibility" type of person.

I already read motorcycle mags and gun mags, but need something to stimulate my brain cells...

I posted in Political Forum cuz I thought the more intelligent people hang out here, compared to The Club, I may have been wrong... :depressed

Is Am Con at bookstores, so I can browse one?

I don't want to click on the other two links here at work, I'll wait till I get home.

PenthouseI have the premier issue of PH, also of Oui, and also of Hustler... all for collectability purposes only... :reading

don't have premier issue of Playboy unfortunately though...

The New Yorker is definitely not skewed to your particular ideology (mine either, really) but I recommend it all the same. Fantastic writing.

WH what do you read to keep up with what is going on.... and to find out stuff that the MSM does not report...? I used to read newsweek, and USN World Report, they were ok, but I want to get off the beaten track, MSM stuff...

Is Mental Floss mainstream media junk, or is it ok?It's geek bait. Totally innocuous. Great for the WC.

any opinions or knowledge about any of these? (some may be left leaning, some may be right leaning)

1. Mother Jones -- Too crunchy for WH23, but generally competent and reliably high-minded.

2. The Progressive -- :sleep More limousine liberalism.

3. Liberty -- Libertarian eggheads (http://libertyunbound.com/) Or did you mean Liberty (http://www.libertymagazine.org/article/view/24/)?

4. The Freeman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Freeman) -- Horn-rimmed glasses

5. American Spectator -- Neocon HQ

6. The Texas Observer -- Minuscule blue-team coverage of Texas politics. Or they used to be. Do they still use shitty onion skin?

Jonas BrothersI'm proud to say that I have never heard of them!

WH23 - Liberty Magazine (your second one)

(and yes, I read somewhere that Progressive has recently gotten worse...)

edit: hmmm... forget about Liberty, it looks like it is all regarding religion topics

guess I'll stick with re-subscribing to Reason, and I'll check Am Con out next time I'm at B&N.
