Props to the Spurs. They played and played hard till the end. THere is nothing you can do when Jason Kidd is hot from 3pt land. No team with Jason Kidd hot from 3pt land ever lost a game.

How about:

a. Not leave people wide open (Jason Kidd)
b. Not tempt the Mavs even more to go to Dirk in the clutch by putting Finley on him, and then double team resulting in said wide open player
c. Play better overall defense

Spurs D was horrible in the 3rd. Dampier played really well on Duncan.

Good game for the Mavs.

one of the worst defensive efforts i've seen the spurs come out with. We were lat on rotations all night. We double teamed players that were 25 feet away from the basket, and we allowed too many open jump shots overall. Only thing that we did fairly well in my opinion was rebound.

our defense was horrible and duncan had a horrible game. two things that don't happen very often.

our rotations need to be a lot better when we play against better teams than dallas. bonner and mason were absolutely horrid on D tonight. i think we win this game if manu plays but props to the mavs.

3 bad defensive outings in the last 4 games... when it looked like we were turning it around, missed rotations and poor communication in the 3rd quarter...
That said, we fought all the way against a Dallas team that was on fire. This is the kind of games we could have won with just a little better defense.

Dallas played a better game. Hope this motivates Gooden into helping the team.

Was Pop serious with this game?

His experiments looks like those against suns last year.

props to the mavs, they played well. props to the spurs for making it interesting near the end-game.

There was no need to keep doubling and trapping players because that experiment failed over and over again with wide open shots for the Mavs. Good game for Dallas. I HATE the Mavs, but good game for them.

Yep, twas the perfect storm:

- Howard hitting everything early on
- Kidd nailing 3s from every spot possible
- Joey Crawford reffing; no fouls called inside when Duncan was getting mauled
- Bowen and Finley sucking it up overall

He'll be experimenting until the postseason hits. I will say, as much as I love Mase he made my vote of confidence for him to take over the point at times waver a bit with some of his decision making, but to his credit he is primarily a shoot-first guard. There were times when he used the threat of his jumper to draw double teams on screens and hit the wide open screener, but those were mainly in the early part of the 1st half. Ah well, still time for him to adjust to the role if Pop so sees it.

The Spurs lost because they played shitty defense. With Manu, they could have scored enough in the second half to win, though.

No D= No win.
Spurs have got to tighten up their belts and get serious about D.

Kind of thinking that too.

Anyway, if we play them in the playoffs, not sure if Gooden would be a good defender for Dirk. IMO, I don't think we should double Dirk because he is always a jump shooter. We just need a good size defender to stick with him the whole game. Just my opinion.

I would just stick Parker on Dirk. Does anybody else notice that when we end up with that switch, it usually results in Dirk shooting a fadeaway 20 footer? And most of the time, he misses it?

Howard wasn't stoned, Jet played well, and Kidd was actually hitting his shots (he was left wide open).

Damp actually played pretty good D, too.

Mark Cuban is still the biggest D-bag in the world. As he gleefully skipped (yes skipped) onto the court after the game, he completely blew by Finley without acknowledging him whatsoever. You only know Mark got some good lovin from his life partner last night.

Nothing to feel good about. To many spurs looking at each other on D showing the look " that was your man" or simply going the wrong way.

Spursmania

Yeah, too many D mishaps. I mean I can't stand Joey Crawford the guy still hates Timmy-it's obvious.

And the whole Jason Terry and Mark Cuban thing is disgusting, but the Mavs played harder than the Spurs and with better D.

We really need to get the D and rotations straightened out.:wakeup

I notice that. It's funny but it's true. I think I might do that for the end of the game not for the whole game though. Parker is our Mavs' killer. I don't want to risk putting him in foul troubles.

For Dirk, we need someone consistently guarding him with quick hands and footsteps. Also, not to jump on him... just stay on him with quick hands and movements.

Haven't been keeping up with the game threads as of late. Been on mission in Afghanistan...but I'm taking it that they are playing like crap as of late. We need the big three back...plain and simple.
