NO up 4 on the Mavs halfway thru the 1st.

Pelicans78

Looks like West hurt his shooting hand. Kidd drawing a good foul on CP3.

So far the Mavs are hanging around with the Hornets...we'll see if they can keep it up.

Pelicans78

This game is gonna be close. We don't blow out teams anymore. Our pace is alot slower from last season. We don't run up and down the court.

Don't know who I should go for being a Spurs fan lol. Both teams are in the division. But NO also only has 22 losses, while Dallas has 24.

Wow that was a close-buzzer beater by Dirk to end the half but I dont think its going to count.

Pelicans78

That shouldn't have counted.

Ghazi
03-05-2009, 09:16 PM
Mavs playing well so far considering its a roadie b2b and 4th in 5 nights.

But the defense looks tired and is doing too much switching for my tastes.

Ghazi
03-05-2009, 09:16 PM
But that's more a reflection on the fact that the Hornets are garbage rather than the Mavs playing well.

A good team would've finished us by halftime already.

crc21209

Tie game 45-45. Which team will be able to pull away coming outta the half?

But that's more a reflection on the fact that the Hornets are garbage rather than the Mavs playing well.

We're a little sluggish from the layoff. Don't worry Ghazi. We're a 3rd quarte team anyway.

Pelicans78

2 day layoff? Give me a break.

We were lulled to sleep by the early 12-3 lead. Dallas made a nice little run. Probably go down into the 4th unless Dallas wears out early.

Im betting the house that CP3 takes a shit on the Mavs in the 2nd half

Pelicans78
03-05-2009, 09:25 PM
Mavs shot 56% in the 2nd quarter. CP3's shooting woes continue. Team continues to play its slow pace and not have any transition points.

Posey's missed two layups.

WTF were the Mavs double teaming Posey in the post leaving 3 point shooters open. :bang if there going to run the offense through Posey, let him go 1 on 1...Jesus Christ, I dont understand NBA coaches sometimes

Pelicans78
03-05-2009, 09:42 PM
Finally we get some transition points. Need to run more with Wright and Chandler.

Ghazi
03-05-2009, 10:09 PM
JJB made too many negative plays that quarter. Mavs had looks from 3 but couldn't knock them down.

We can't stop guard penetration but that's something we just have to live with. 12 straight FG makes was vexing though.

Surprised we're still in it. We need to nail some fluke shots to get back in it.

Ghazi
03-05-2009, 10:42 PM
I'm not that upset about this loss. It wasn't the same kind of blowout we've seen with the Mavs a few times this year. This was just a case of a team running out of gas and having bad defense against PG's regardless.

4th game in 5 nights, back to back, road game.

Shots didn't fall in the 3rd, led to transition buckets, J-Ho was out, etc.

I'm more concerned about how we do on the road trip coming up.

Not that it matters at the end of the day since we're 1st round fodder, but I'm not that pissed about this particular loss.

i expect the Mavs at least to have a chance to be within striking distance in the 4th quarter, not take a shit on the floor and get blow out once again on the road..this shit is depressing.

Not even the Kings, Grizz, Thunder, Bobcats get blow out like this against the better teams, at least they are competitive. Your Dallas Mavs arent even competitive anymore on the road

Road game, back to back, 4th game in 5 nights.

A lot of teams have trouble in the 2nd half of these types of games, I remember the Hornets losing by 26 when it happened to them earlier this year.

As for this team having a chance to get within striking distance in the 4th, it did. The game was officially over halfway through the 4th.

And I'm not sure why you'd expect the Mavs to be within striking distance after the 4th quarter, considering how many games we've had this year where we were done by the end of the 3rd.

True but Carlisle ran out that shit lineup much like he didd against the Grizz a few months back to start the 4th and like that the game is out of reach

I'll concede that. Barea was agitating.

The Hornets are simply a bad matchup for us. I'm not excusing the loss of our beloved Mavs, but considering all the aforementioned factors + the fact that the jumpers weren't falling and we can't guard point guards, I can't get too upset about it.

It ended in the 3rd when CP3 decided to take over the game. Our personnel simply can't do anything about that, it just can't. We can only hope to offset it with jump shots but they weren't falling.

Beloved Mavs are an average defensive team but when it comes to point guards it's just down right atrocious. That's a killer in a PG stacked conference like the West. 27th in the league as far as PG defense I believe.

One more note.

Beloved Barea has been a pleasant surprise this year but I'm really tired of the experiment. Not to knee jerk or anything, his size is just a nuisance on the defensive end and despite scoring outbursts here and there he really isn't that good from behind the arc, has tunnel vision at times, and can't finish at times either (due to the size)

Love you Barea, I really do. As you are a beloved Mav.

But we should give hte backup PG minutes to Terry and free up a few minutes more minutes for Singleton or something

Kidd 36 Terry 12
Terry 24 Wright 24
Howard 36 Singleton 12
Dirk 36 Bass 12
Damp 27 Bass 12 Singleton 9

... somethin like that.

Howard's injury provided a blow in the fact that you guys don't have another true SF outside of Wright or Green. It would have made more sense to bring in a small forward at that point instead of Terry since Kidd was shooting the ball well and Dirk was hot. You guys didn't need Terry's offense at that point. It's kinda like how we started Wright instead of Posey at SF since Posey provides a little more scoring off the bench than Wright would.
