they were without
Gasol
swift
posey
and they still won the game
did spurs losing to a team without it's 3 best players mean the spurs aren't still an elite team? did people think any less of them? did this loss make them a crap team? HELL NO is the answer
it's no different to the suns only winning by 6 against a team without it's two stars. They took us lightly like we did memphis that night. Lats night's game doesn't make the suns any less of an elite team as they were before..teams look down on teams at stages of the season so bashing the suns because they on;y just beat us by 6 is totally stupid
we only lost by a few against the lakers last year when parker and duncan were out..that really meant alot didn't it? :angel

These are all excellent points.
We shouldn't go overboard in reading something into a loss.

I wouldn't bash them, but it can't have done their confidence any good.

i doubt they care..it's one game in a season and they won the game. Getting homecourt throughout is more important to them

Here's another loss to remember:
Griizz also beat Suns @MEM without Bonzi, Earl, and Pau.

The mind is a strange, strange thing. They were blown out once, and blew a huge lead in the second game. They had already lost the tie breaker, and were denied the chance for a confidence builder game against the Spurs at full strength. It may not weigh upon their minds now, but now doesn't matter. What matters is a prospective matchup in the WCFs. At that point, nagging little doubts start to seep in, especially if things aren't going their way.

The Spurs were not trailing Memphis. In addition, Memphis is not the team who is expected to block our way into the finals. Oh and the Spurs were not looking to see how they measured against Memphis at full strength due to being beaten by memphis in two decidedly different ways which give cause for concern.

It wasn't a statement game. This was one where both teams should have been up and ready for a bare knuckles fight. Then Pop yanked the rug.

I for one don't buy all psycho babble crap of a moral victory. Whose to say the Suns did not get some confidence out of pulling out a close win? Of stopping Parker completely in 4th? Two weeks from now then these two teams battle for 1 seed this 2 game swing will be potentially huge for the
Mark it down historically 1 seed matters as does home court in a playoff series - will the Spurs now be as confident if they face Suns without homecourt in a series? :elephant :elephant :elephant (my kid wanted 3 elephants)

the same memphis team you are talkin' about won last year the regular season series 3-1, and we swept them in the playoffs.
so how the hell a win over the spurs in the fucking regular season should build any how their confidence. they know what their win's worth... not shit.

Then let's be consistent. If a Memphis win over San Antonio in the regular season doesn't mean anything, then why does a San Antonio win over Phoenix in the regular season mean anything?
And who won the regular season series between SA and LA last year?
I just don't like flip-flopping the arguments whenever it suits a point of view.
Either the Spurs' wins over Phoenix this year mean something or they don't. Whatever point you take, you can't then take the opposite point of view with Memphis.

seasons games are ONLY made to get that HCA
we can sweep the regular season series over the PHX, but this will NEVER means we're gonna win the playoffs series.
that's why the playoffs are made, when EVERY game counts, when u give all u got to win it, yesterday loss doesn't mean shit, nor a win would've meant anything.
a win would have made the suns play like they have nothing to loose in the playoffs, and we know an overconfident spurs team smells trouble.
