Your team might not. But you sure are.

Manu is not going to get healthy, he has bad ankles, we have the Manu stopper in Sasha :downspin:, and we are going to have Bynum and Ariza back

That's what Spur fan is probably starting to understand. Manu will never be fully healthy from here on out, his ankles cannot hanlde the wear and tear that he puts on them. All those sharp cuts he makes puts stress on them and without his mobility he is nothing more than a spot-up shooter and that isn't good enough for the Spurs to win a title.

It must be opposite day because I could have sworn the Lakers trashed the Spurs 4-1 last year in the playoffs without Bynum or Ariza.

I would have sworn Ginobili was injured to the point that Phil Jackson said so himself when Pop didn't want to put any excuses.
Furthermore, I still remember the Lakers fan crying when they were down 20 in game 1, flailing excuses that they needed Bynum and Ariza was going to be the Manu stopper they needed.
We're here now. Lakers choked another NBA Finals, we got a little younger, we're playing fairly well. Manu destroyed Ariza in the first game of the season.

Now we're just trying to stay healthy and rest for the playoffs.
If we are come playoff time, I like my chances against any team, including the Lakers.

If we just say "you're right", will you shut the fuck up? No?

Damn. Oh, well, worth a shot.

I guess we're supposed to whimper, die and roll over beneath the wisdom of your words...but you can't actually want that, because then you'd have nothing to do.

So the point of all this trash talk is...to make yourself feel manly? To demoralize Spurs fans for the prepubescent joy of it? To whittle away the hours until re-runs of the OC and Gilmore Girls come on for you to watch?

The Spurs have an uphill battle ahead of them. We'll give it a hell of a run. No excuses, and no bullshit: we'll either win it all or we won't. The Spurs will still be my team: I wouldn't root for the Lakers if you put a fucking gun to my head.

Spoken like somebody that has no clue. Let me own you again.
Did you know Manu's current injury is not on the ankle?
Are you also aware that the ankle he had surgery on during the summer healed just fine? I mean, do I really need to post the dunk he had on Armstrong against NOH? It's on the sig of a couple posters here.
The guy had a couple 30+ games right before this last injury, and he's back in shootaround today.

I mean, I know you wet your pants just hoping he's injured/done becuase you know that's the only chance your team has to beat us. But it's not happening. Wake up already.

wait a second. You're saying that an injured manu and a "DNP" Bynum and Ariza equals each other out??

No, I'm saying a healthy Manu meant your team didn't have a chance. Who are Bynum and Ariza? Second tier talent at best in this league. Call me back when they make it to an All Star game or an All NBA team...
Talk about overrating players. There's dime a dozen bigs putting 14 and 8 in this league. And Ariza? Please.

Actually the Lakers and Spurs played each other at full strength this season and the result was a Laker asswhooping. It was so bad that your own coach didn't bother playing the Big 3 at all in the 4th.

I don't worry about the Spurs. Your team is no match for a healthy Laker team. I have facts to back me up, you have nothing but faith. This is like trying to argue evolution to one of those Inteligent Design nuts.

Now this is getting out of hand.....

You know the bad part of this argument is the evolution/intelligent design debate is that the evolution folks on the universities and colleges won't allow an honest debate.

But not to listen to folks...when you dismiss out of hand. If Intelligent Design was a crackpot theory....the evolutionists would have an honest debate and let the evidence take them where it leads.

Professors have had their careers ruined because they are talked about ID in their classrooms. That isn't the America I know and that's scary.

You should see the Ben Stein movie "Expelled" and it will give you an honest look at this whole debate.

So before you call people who have talked about ID nuts...realize they're two sides to side every issue. I don't care which side of the fence you come on.....there is a legitimate debate and to silence it is just as bad as anything what so called religious fundamentalists have done.

I didn't want to go there, DrHouse because this is a Sports forum but I have to challenge the notion some people are nuts because they even discussed ID as a theory.

Scientifically speaking, ID is junk. The entire proposition relies on unverifiable claims. At least with evolution you can go take a look at DNA strains over time and see if natural selection exists or not, as we learn more and more about DNA itself. Does that mean evolution is right? No. But it's a proposition that can be scrutinized and tested. ID in the other hand it's a faith based proposition, which has no place in modern science.

ElNono,

This is a Sports forum....but you are falling into the same argument that many evolutionists fall into. ID is not junk!! Proponents of ID have made some substantial arguments in favor of it and it's not trying to prove the Bible's account over Darwin's account. Even Darwin knew his theory wasn't fullproof and was open to intepretation and they won't even discuss the possibility of ID as a theory. That's wrong and un-American!

I would ask you to watch "Expelled" by Ben Stein and you will get a better viewpoint of what ID is.

Also, if there is evidence of an intelligent designer or creator...then let the evidence decide that and follow it.

Whether you believe it or not believe it.....it should be discussed and not shunned and have people's careers ruined because they have talked about in their classes.

Paganism and Wicca are being taught at universities and colleges are those being accepted more than ID. And that's not right and ridiculous!

While I agree that religious discrimination is wrong, it's also a two way street. There's plenty of religious entities that won't employ people that are not part of their religion. That's wrong and un-American too.

We can take this to the political forum and discuss it ad nauseam (we already have in many occasions).

And last I checked, Ben Stein has a major in economy and is an attorney, not a scientist.

I would agree with you about religious discrimination as well. But it seems the secular folks have came after the other side harshly in the last few years and they should be challenged. And yes I like to engage you with that debate in the political forum.

I like DrHouse's posts and enjoy debate with him about the Lakers and Spurs but I don't like people taking cheap shots and bringing a political/religious analogy into a sports debate. I had to respond.

Yes, Ben Stein is an economist but he had some of major scientists on both sides of the issue including Richard Dawkins in the movie. So the movie shows good representation on both sides of that debate.

Okay...back to the Spurs-Lakers!! :toast

Intelligent Design is junk science. There is nothing scientific about it. It amounts to nothing more than trying to legitimize a fairy tale that can't ever be substantiated.

Again, you are missing the argument. That's your opinion whether ID it's junk science or not.

There are reputable scientists who would disagree with you. The point is that it should be discussed in an educational setting. Not have scientists' careers be shunned or backballed out of the university system.

To me...that's wrong and un-American! If Paganism and Wicca could be discussed in an educational setting so can ID.

I clearly disagree with those philosophies or viewpoints but it has every right to be discussed and studied and I wouldn't want to destroy someone's careers because they discussed it in their classrooms.

That's the real issue!!

It's not just my opinion. It's the opinion of nearly every scientist in the world that's worth a damn.

There is nothing scientific about Intelligent Design. It can't be backed up or substantiated with facts because WE CANNOT PROVE GOD EXISTS.

You are stupid. Seriously. There is a reason why ID was shot down in schools even in places as backwards as Kansas.

Do me a favor....please watch the movie Expelled and have a open mind.

But to call someone stupid....when they are legitimate scientists on the ID side its just being as closed minded as the people you are railing against.

Again, I don't mind having a honest, legit debate...but name-calling is childish and tells me you don't want to engage honestly.

And if you want to be discriminatory..against a viewpoint or ideology that's scary and fascist!

I'm against all types of discrimination: racial, gender, and ideological.

I enjoy going back and forth with you.....but please learn about the other side of an argument before you dismiss it.

Lastly, its so funny how liberals, progressives or people on the left say the opposite side is close-minded or racist or backwards or whatever the new label is.....but don't see their own blind spot and act the same way as the people they are accusing.
