"Arrested Developement" - is it a good show? [Archive]

Well, this past Christmas my older brother gave me the first 3 seasons of "Arrested Developement". I've never heard about or have seen this show on TV. I've been procrastinating on opening the package (its still in the shrink wrap) and was wondering if its worth watching.

I will eventually watch it but just havnt been motivated to do so since Christmas. Am I missing out on something? Help me get over my procrastination or let me know if its warranted.

Depends. Name some comedies you like. People who liked the show LOVED the show, but it never caught on with a mainstream audience so it only lasted 3 seasons (and only made it that long because of its hardcore following).

If you like your sitcoms to have laugh tracks so you know which parts are supposed to be funny, you won't like Arrested Development.

The only week part of the show was the MRF part, mostly cause it was kinda fucked up

For some people, the style of humor just doesn't stick.

Personally, I think Arrested Development is the funniest show that's ever been on television. It really is that good.

Well, my brother does know my sense of humor. The fact that there is no "Canned Laughing" is definately encouraging. I think I will start watching it at work tomorrow (I Love my job :lol ).

It's very good, and very funny :tu My only complaint is that it's about as smug and up it's own ass as a show can get, which is why David Cross was a perfect casting decision.

I didn't watch it when it was on TV, but watched all the episodes on Hulu. Defintely one of the funniest shows ever made.

I have all 3 seasons sitting here as well as I borrowed them from a mate.

I've been told it's great but I am also procrastinating on it. Is it similar in vain to something like Curb Your Enthusiasm? That's the impression I get. (I love Curb)

Oh, its terrible. In fact, you should send those DVDs to me, I'd be doing you both a favor for taking that crap off your hands.

Go watch, the show is brilliant.

Do you guys remember the episode...SPOILERS FOR OT.....where Michael finds his long lost sister/prostitute and employes her in his firm? And after her first day he calls someone in the office and asks him/her how did she do. And replying on the phone: "you mean AWAY right....." and then proceeds telling his other sister:"she has blown them all AWAY". Funniest thing i ever heard lol.

This is one of the best written shows of all time, and the characters (particularly gob) are magnificent. I hate myself for not watching it when it was on.

Season 5 is just as bad as season 4 tbh. Very rare moments where it recaptures the old magic, but mostly it’s a bunch of has-been actors clinging to the last thing that keeps them relevant.

You really should start thinking sh** out instead of coming up with your twit points. There's a whole host of reasons I'd look it up, least of which is it's Ghostbusters, an original classic. Of course I'm gonna be interested in a remake or continuation of the series. And if I'm hearing about some dumb c*nt being a twitter nazi while f*cking up the movie, then I just want to see what the f*ck is going on. Then, the reviews that slam the movie are pretty great.
