View Full Version : How do you treat road team fans at AT&T Center?

Rapper

I mean that if you have a chace to watch the spurs game at AT&T Center live ,and at that time, for example, a cocky Lakers fan who wears a piece of "Kobe 24" jersey and frequently says that"the spurs suck. the spurs suck, Duncan you sucks" loudly, and he sits next with you, especially in a playoffs game

if you were in this situation, what would you want to tell him and how would you treat him during that game?

Had this happen before...in a playoff game...same situation...though it was a Kobe 8 jersey, I believe. I was about to say something to him, until a 250 pound 6'5" guy did it for me. Dude in the Lakers jersey turned around to say something to the guy, saw him, turned back around and sat down. Didn't say another word...I remember that more than the Final Score..lol...but I do remember the Spurs won. Oh..and since it's an off night, this is actually a decent thread, IMO.

You know that just pisses me off! I live in Riverside, CA and I have driven 2 hours to LA to see the Spurs play against the Lakers. Laker fans are the biggest assholes in the NBA!! They love to talk crap! Its my goal to go to San Antonio and watch the Spurs play in there hometown. Let me tell you if I am going to travel all that distance and end up hearing fans for the other team telling me the Spurs suck, I think I am going to have to pop someone in the mouth!!!

I had a great time with the Clippers fans. Granted, it wasn't the Playoffs, and it was the Clippers, but people were really nice to me. I would love to see the Spurs with the home crowd, but I had no problems with the LA Clippers crowd.

Although I'm sure it has happened, I personally have never witnessed violence towards supporters of another team.

Generally, I would say it only happens if said supporter of opposite team is acting like a real fucking jackass.

Lets put it this way, you may get some good-natured trash talk if you wear an opposing teams jersey but no one will really fuck with you. If you talk trash, expect to get something more in return. It happens at every arena.

since ive been to at&t center many times for laker games and ialways wear my jersey.... not once I have experienced hater from other fans.... maybe its the fact that i sit in the lower bowl section of the arena and those fans are little more classy than the ones sitting in nose bleeds.

or

it could be the fact that i dont shout blantant hate towards the spurs....Ill cheer for the lakers...clap when a spurs free throw rims out and bring up ol facts against the spurs like the asterik season... or cant repeat... or boring... etc... i never use the words suck.... it sounds too much like fuck and a fight might break out

I've seen drinks thrown at each other by fans, at several games, too. Some opposing fans just get extremely annoying, even when their team is losing by double digits. It's sad, really.

I dont think there is much violence in NBA Basketball, generally everyone seems to get along at the games. In European basketball there is, teams like Partizan belgrade and Red Star belgrade, Serbia, their fans are smashing each others head every game, they even take guns to the game. Olympiacos and Panathinaikos from Greece too!

Let's not even talk about football (soccer), that's really bad in Europe, with people even getting killed at fan confrontations.

The USA should be happy there is no such hooliganism in their sports.

I got a Laker fan to get up and leave in the middle of a playoff game back at the Alamodome one time. LA jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter and this dummy in a Kobe jersey got up and started dancing and talking shit to the entire section the whole quarter, so I started talking it back the whole game. By the third quarter I kept telling him to get up and cheer since he was only down single digits and finally he couldn't take it anymore and left halfway into the third to a chorus of boos from the section. Prob a good idea, as fourth quarters weren't pretty for the Lakers that series. :lol

I went to a Spurs-Lakers game in Atlanta in '06 that we ended up losing. The Hawks fans were pretty cool with the Spurs fans (there were quite a few of us). I was bummed when we lost the game, but in the midst of their excitement one of the Hawks fans said to me, "Don't worry, you guys will be fine. To us, this feels like a championship!" They had a point.

I went to the Spurs-Pistons game at the Palace (wearing my Spurstalk softball shirt! :) ) and cheered for the Spurs. You do it in a mature way and people don't mess with you. I had a good time with the Pistons fans around me. They were all pretty cool. We had fun and had some good-natured ribbing but in the end it was all very classy.

I cant really say as I live in ct and go to see the spurs at MSG or the IZOD in NJ. The knick fans are pretty cool if you keep the dissing at an exceptable level(LOL) and NJ has more spur fans than theyre own(LOL). As long as the opposing teams fans beer or popcorn doesn't touch me they can holler all they want.

I wore a Robert Horry t-shirt jersey to game 7 in New Orleans last season. For the most part, fans were cool and we had some good-natured trash talking. After the Spurs won, most everyone was gracious in defeat, with exception of the "Where's your greencard? clap clap clapclapclap" chant we got on the way to the car.

Being a Spurs fan living in another city (Phoenix) I am usally the guy that is getting taunted or heckled during games. I understand that I am a fan of another team going into their "home" arena but Phoenix fans are the worst. (Especially since 2007) Unfortunately I have only been able to see the Spurs from here in Arizona and you could only imagine the things that people say to me. Beofore 2007 (Horry Incident) it wasn't nearly as bad as it is now, people want to fight me they are constantly shouting names etc... Hell during last years playoff series I wasn't even at the arena I was at a grocery store right after (game 1 :)) wearing my Tim Duncan Jersey and two guys followed me into the store just to try and fight me because of the team I liked. They didn't realize I had my other 4 friends with me so they backed off but still.

One day I will be able to watch the Spurs @ home and most likely I wouldn't heckle other fans of other teams unless they got out of hand. It would seriously be such a joy to watch a Spurs game in SA without hearing the non sense of Phoenix fans!

Personally, I don't care what any other fan says when I am at the game. Quite frankly, if they yell "You suck, The Spurs suck" and stuff like that, it only makes them look stupid and blinded by the recent success of the Spurs. Let them talk... they will look like idiots when the season is over.

I remember game 7 of the 2005 Finals - we were watching it on that HUGE inflatable screen at Champps. There was a very big crowd and there was one table of Pistons fans who were hooting and hollering and talking trash - especially early in the game.

However - they ended up sneaking out early when it was obvious the Spurs were going to win. :lol :lobt2:

I have always been nice to fans from other teams at the AT&T, and home team fans in other arenas have always had fun with me when I am cheering for the visiting team- whether Spurs or Raptors or Pacers. I have actually met a lot of people that way- family and friends of the opposing team's players. I had the most fun at game 4 in Dallas in 2006- the one that went to OT. As it would be, I was the lone woman sitting in an area of at least 100 men, and they were all Mavericks fans. It is just a game after all, and when it is over you say good game- had fun- and see you again.

the last time the lakers were in our building i remember walking up to the at&t center and hearing this fool behind me snickering about how kobe owns all and the lakers are the shit and spurs fuckin' suck and blah blah blah... dude was trying to intimidate me and my friends but it wasn't working.

fast forward after the game... saw the same dude look like he was about to cry when the crowd was heckling him all the way to his ride. dude kept trying to act hard and talk shit but he knew he better just shut the fuck up and his buddy especially knew he needed to get his friend to shut up.

i hate them cocky ass fans that come into our home and act like they deserve respect when they are far from respectful to us at our own home! fuck those people!

Depends how he acts toward those around him in general. If he's cool and you can actually chat about the game a bit, but he's gonna boo the Spurs and chear his ass of for his team. Then thats cool because when I go to Spurs games I cheer my ass off for the Spurs and I boo and try and make some noise when opp is at the free throw line. I live in Houston so every year go for sure go to the Spurs games here in Houston and I chear my ass off for them their and boo the rockets every game. But I'm cool with those around me and can chat it up a bit about both teams and it's all cool.

I've been to every Spurs @ Rockets game for the past 3 yrs since I've moved to Houston.. and twice a year we go with at least 8 spurs fans together. They talk a lot of trash in Houston. I almost got in a fight with one of the rocket spirit man cheerleaders.. It helps that the Toyota Center is usually filled with 15-20% of Spurs fans.

We just cheer, and they talk trash...Probably bc the Rockets suck every year and they are jealous of the Spurs. I can't wait for this Saturday!

Walking inside the Alamodome at game 1 of the 2001 western conference championship series Spurs V lakers, we see this guy (17 maybe) walking towards us wearing a Shaq jersey and waving his homemade lakers poster and talking trash loudly. Its pretty crowed hallway as the game will start in 10 mins. This guy right in front of me starts telling the guy better put your sign down when you walk past me. He keeps warning the guy, but the sign says up. As we pass the lakers guy the dude yanks the kid's sign and throws it up in the air. Everyone starts laughing at the laker guy as his sign is ripped to shreads by the Spurs fans in the hall. And the dude tells laker guy, I warned you about holding that sign up. The laker guy just looks at him like I cant believe you did that to me. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Also seen 3 fights break out at the Alamodome, all Laker playoff losses.
