I think someone like sowell is amazing, I can't say as I love him, but no one you listed has anything like the collection of experinces sowell had.Grows up in an isolated homogenous community then pulled into New York a huge city with a diverse population raised in extreme poverty, goes to war, then is able to not only put himself through college but graduate with honors. When someone goes through that much and is still able to not only survive but thrive. I want to hear what they think and what they got out of life.

I agree a list of alphabet soup behind your name doesn't insure intelligence or ability but it can give you some clues, otherwise you wind up with pudgy pin headed ex vice presidents (whose only scientific expertise is that he once made a kite with no help from daddy) pontificating on climate change, and using political strong arm tatics to silence true scientific inquery.I am more impressed by Sowell's drive, and intelligence than by his degrees.

Sure, everyone has biases. But there's a difference between saying 1) school vouchers don't work because student grades have gone down X percent while spending Y percent more money and saying 2) student vouchers are bad because X politician proposed it, and X politician once lied!

To think there's no difference is just being willfully blind.

And the fact that the press spins stories is a reason why they're only trusted by 9% of the public. If they argued HONESTLY, maybe that would be a bit higher. :D
