I for one am man enough to admit that I wrong and Pop right for his Wed night decision. The Suns losing last night was an unexpected bonus and maybe they will lose again on Sunday to Denver (after the Spurs thump Denver tonight).
Moreover there is this new and unexpected continuing love fest for him the Spurs and his strategy suddenly by the media and fans (whats up with that?). Are we all ready for that to come the way of a small market team???? I am glad = I guess "CIA" Pop needs some love too at times and overall I will always admit his positives outweigh his negatives (that seemingly resolve around his stubborn nature).
However, one point needs to be made. The Suns losing night was not the same as if the Spurs had beat them on Wed. Lets not get overboard yet.
Why? If the Spurs had beat them either with the some of the missing players playing or with a fabulous finish to a valiant effort by those who played = the Suns would now be 46 and 16 rather than 47 and 15.
Meanwhile the Spurs would have been 48 and 13 instead of their current 47 and 14. Spurs would have been up, I believe a full 2 and 1/2 games and 3 big ones in the loss column!
Now we are only up 1/2 and a tie breaker. It is still a tight race.
Again, I am now converted that Pop made the right strategy, but time will truly tell. I still think number one seed will be worth a hell of a lot - why would such a dominant team at home not want it!!!
