When playing against Yao, Tim usually takes him to the 45, mid-post, and either drives at him or slaps him around with bankers. Due to the knee, he doesn't have the quickness or explosion to drive on him, so he's trying to post him instead, and on one leg that's a recipe for disaster.

Good idea for Tim today might be to play a lot of high post and become a facilitator.


Yeah, it is a worry. Time for him to pull out those legendary bball smarts and find a way to be effective without his full fitness. If any player can do that, he can.

As I said earlier, if I were Pop I'd be putting him in the high post and using him to distribute against a guy like Yao.



I think we'll see Tim passing to cutters more (hopefully from the high post - I think he's underutilised there), getting open for jumpers more, and only posting guys over whom he has a clear height or strength advantage.

I completely agree about Duncan's high post play..he's one of the best passing big men in NBA history, so we'll be able to play that style more..his improved J is also going to be big..I'm not going to expect the usual playoff Duncan, but if he can play like he did in the first half of the season, I'll be happy..

he'll also have time to adjust his playing style accordingly to the injuries..his D won't be the same though, I agree..his D looked great in the 2nd half vs. LA though, so I think he'll have the ability to play good D, just not Duncan D..

Bonne will and should remain the starter though - he plays a totally different game from Tim, spaces the floor on offence, and can be effective on D/boards depending on matchups. If you want to start someone else next to Tim, it should be KT.
