1st Round preview.

Phil ain't giving the Mavs a chance to win and give them a mental edge.

I suspect Phil's going all out to win this one. Quick timeouts and a short leash on the bench.

Cool matchups:

I'm not sure why they keep showing Pau vs Dirk on defense.

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be Lamar again, not Pau. LO does a better job guarding Dirk than Pau.

Those were some interesting brackets in the pregame.

LA vs Portland and SA vs Dallas would be two very interesting first round contests. I could actually see Portland and Dallas pulling upsets. Utah vs NO would be a nice battle of young PGs. I could care less about the Houston/Denver matchup.

In the east, I think Detroit could upset Orlando. The Sixers might give Boston some trouble, but would still lose. Atlanta vs Miami would be a very fun series. Cleveland would most likely manhandle the Bulls.

i hate that crap. there is no reason to double anyone on the Lakers. Just play man to man. If Kobe beats you, he beats you. just dont allow him open teammates to find.

Portland can't win on the road while the Lakers are the best road team. 5-6 games max for the Lakers.

Utah vs NO. Utah is the Hornet's achilles heal. I don't think CP3 has EVER won a game against DWill.

Dallas vs Spurs is always a great matchup.

This is why teams look like shit against the Lakers. They are letting guys who have no business scoring (Gasol and Ariza) have 20 pt. games.

which one plays the 2 guard?

JKidd plays 2 guard as it seems Barea is running the offense. This leaves the Mavs with two weaknesses and keeps the ball out of Kidd's hands.

Barea can't guard Fisher.
JKidd can't guard Kobe.

Jet should be starting against the Lakers.

I said 14 months ago that Pau is a beter fit for the Lakers than Dirk would be. Which is true. Pau is a better post player, better passer, better defender. Dirk would just hamper Kobe's offensive production and ended up choking in the playoffs like he always does.

Oh yeah. Let's live in the past, shall we? Where do we begin? the 14 NBA championships the Lakers won? How many titles do the Mavs have? Let's not even go there.

Dirk may be the better player but Pau is not that far behind and when all is said and done, Pau might end up to be the more accomplished player. As I mentioned in another thread, Pau is a better fit for the Lakers than Dirk. He is more versatile, a superior low post player, players a lot better defense, won't back down, and a very smart player. I don't think the Lakers would have gone as far as they did last year with Dirk instead of Pau in the lineup.

Nobody said anything about the Lakers 14 titles first off.

Second off Pau may accomplish more in the team sense, kinda helps playing alongside Kobe Bryant (only kinda:rolleyes), but as far as individual accolades he will never make an all-NBA 1st team or win an MVP like beloved Dirk.

I will bet that when all is said and done, Pau will have a ring and Dirk won't. And I will also bet Karl Malone, who is twice the PF Dirk will ever be will be first to tell you he'd trade both regular season MVP and All-NBA 1st Team awards for a ring.

I'm sure you can't relate.

i never, at one point, thought we would win this game...

when we were down by 15, up by 3 in the 4th. ever since blowing a 27 point lead at Staples in 02, i never feel like we will win there as long as Kobe is on that team, and almost every Mav fan knows my frustration. this is basically a quick summary of how the Mavs have played at Staples forever, come close to winning at the end, maybe take a quick lead until LA turns on another gear and rips their heart out. we just have nobody who is as tough as Kobe who will be able to shut him down, or match him on offense

Gasol was just damn hot last night, even hotter than an erected dick. our boys in blue should have tried double-team or something alike to cool him out but we didn't, because we don't have a decent center like Perkins who made Gasol suck through all the 6 games in the nba finals of last season.

Dampier earns times more than Perkins does but he only played 9 min last night, during the rest 41 min we had to put either bass or singleton against gasol. Although Dampier grabbed 7 rebs last night, which was pretty efficient for his 9-min game time, Dampier still did a poor job last night like he always does. I think our guys in blue would have played better if Bynum had played and started for the lakers at C, at least Dirk can prevent Gasol making 12 of his total 13 shots. Dampier takes over 10m every year from our team but what he contributes to us isn't much more than what we can get from a srub center who earns about 2-3m per year. and what's worse is that Dampier's outrageous contract still has two entire seasons left out of this season, that makes his garbage contract less valuable than the 10-retiring garbage contracts like tmac's.

They all did a shitty job covering Gasol.

At least Dampier would have grabbed a rebound. We win if Damp is in those finals minutes getting those rebounds.
