hmm....I'm looking around and every news place is reporting that the Patriots & Panthers are working on a deal, but nobody is confirming it's actually done. Some reports are saying they're hoping it gets done by next week.

So until this is a done deal.....18-1.

Yeah I'm sure the Panthers have every reason to be in collusion with the Patriots.

And this isn't near as bad as the ass-raping we gave the Raiders when we got Moss for a 4th rounder :lmao that is still the funniest shit ever.

lol i really hope the Pats fuck up again, so then they would not only go down as a dynasty for winning, but a dynasty for choke jobs, like the Buffalo Bills. First they choke a massive lead to the Colts, then after being dubbed in a very USCesque style as "the greatest team ever", going undefeated in the regular season, they choke against the giants and blow a late game lead in that one. first, 3 rings in 4 years. now 3 chokejobs in 4 years. this is going to be yet another epic season.

but again, they have no reason to not win the championship, and they most likely will. if they dont, im not sure what would be a bigger chokejob, cuz according to pats fans, they now have Ed Reed and Ray Lewis in their primes, so this team should actually be even better than the 18*-1 team.

They are talking about converting Peppers as a linebacker. I trust Belichick knows what he is doing if that's the case.Mayo/Crable/Guyton are 3 youngsters who will only get better. Add in Peppers and Thomas and this is a solid linebacking core. The D is going to be disgusting next season. Im thrilled about how potent it is going to be. We will have the draft to get even stronger.

IronMexican

It was already known Peppers was going to be a LB in the 3-4. That's the reason he wanted to leave the Panthers, he wants to play in the 3-4.

Eh I am not going to call them a shoe in for the championship yet. Got to play the games on the field. They will be right in the thick of things. I know we will beat the piss out of the Steelers if both teams make the playoffs and we face them. The Steelers D is Tom Brady's whore. :hat

For whatever reason, I really don't see this deal happening anymore.

Peppers is going to cost way too much money, and he's going to want a long-term deal. There's no guarantee he'll successfully convert to OLB, and as a DE in a 3-4 he'll struggle, because he's a pass rush specialist. He's not a great run stopper, and honestly he seems like a freak of nature type who gets by on athleticism alone. I wonder if he has the IQ to be in a "read & react" defense.

Plus, they still need a lot of money to give Vince Wilfork an extension, and he's the most valuable part of that defense.

Even so, my pants are still going crazy over the thought of having a dominating rusher like Peppers in NE. I just don't know if it makes sense fiscally, and I have some doubts if he'll be able to adapt to The Patriot Way. But if Bill thinks he can do it, then he can do it.

In Bill We Trust.

Well foxsports is now reporting the Panthers deny this.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9235696/Panthers-deny-Peppers-to-Patriots-trade-report?MSNHPHMA

Plus the article says the panthers would have to get two first round picks unless they agree to less. As a team I could see them agreeing to less but not to downgrade all the way to just one 2nd round pick.

The reason: They aren't allowed to have any trade talks involving Peppers until he signs his one-year tender worth $16.7 million - or until his agent brokers a deal with another team and comes to Carolina for approval.

They have to deny it or they'd be breaking rules. And they don't want 1st round picks, they're looking to cut back on salary.

I like talking about 19-0, but they're far from unbeatable. Teams will attack Brady hard all year long, the Giants showed exactly how to pressure Brady. Fred Taylor is a huge upgrade, but we're still one injury away from Vagina Maroney playing like ass in games that matter.

Realistically, if Brady's knee is okay, I'd say 13+ wins and the AFC Championship Game at a minimum. But this team absolutely has 19-0 potential.

No way in hell the pats lose less than 4 games next year..This team does not have the depth of years past and the coaches who have been lost to other teams well definatly be felt. Harrison not at safety well be huge for this team. I hate to compare the Pats with my spurs but both are getting older and the gap has closed alot with the rest of the league!!

Right but it's not illegal for peppers and his agent to talk to them. maybe i read the article wrong but carolina was denying everything. i'm not really saying that means anything i guess bc it happens all across sports, but it is an alternate view to everyone who says info from a "source" says its guaranteed.

either way fuck the pats and they will not go to the afc champ and they def will not go 19-0.

Even if we dont land Peppers, this team defensively is going to be very solid. They are contenders as long as Brady is healthy and Belichick is coaching. I know teams will be going at Brady hard all year but he should have a great season. Maybe not 2007 great but damn close. We also use multiple backs in the offense. Taylor/Faulk/Morris/Maroney etc etc.

They were able to go 11-5 without Brady last season and nearly won the division. Not to mention all the other injuries this team had yet they still had that record. If Brady stays healthy, this team will go 12-4/13-3 and should reclaim the afc east division. Brady having an mvp season like he had in 2007 also is not out of the question. It is hard to see the Pats having a worse season especially if they can stay healthy.

The loss of harrison will deflate that defense more than any pats fan is willing to admit..You can say they did well going 11-5 without brady or you can can say the dolphins also went 11-5 and had a very young roster in doing so..The dolphins are the new team to beat in east..

At this point in his career, Rodney Harrison blows more coverages than Roy Williams. He got tons of tackles because he was constantly taking down the guy that just beat him. Losing Harrison affects the locker room only.

I don't see the Patriots taking on Peppers' salary. Nobody on that team is going to make more than Brady. They need to get faster on defense and they have quite a haul of draft picks coming up. Their pickups tend to be vets who have a modest salary.
