HOUSTON—Houston Rockets forward Carl Landry was shot in the leg early Tuesday morning, a team spokesman said.

Rockets Director of Media Relations Nelson Luis said Landry had just flown in from New Orleans and was going to get a bite to eat when he was shot.

It happened around 1:30 a.m.

Luis said Landry was in his car when the bullet grazed his lower leg.

He was treated for a flesh wound and released from Memorial Hermann hospital.

It was unclear how many games Landry might miss as a result of the injury, but Luis said he definitely wouldn’t play Wednesday night.

I thought one report mentioned that it was just a flesh wound. For his sake, I hope that's true.

I'm mostly just interested to know the motive for the shooting. I wonder who's on Landry's bad side?

I ask same question as in other thread why did Landry not shoot this person back? I do not understand. Does he not even keep gun in his car? This I cannot understand. He should have gun in his car and then he can get it and shoot them back.

way to think that through. Im sure the criminals will happily obligdge and give up their guns as well. No way would they take advantage of being the only ones with the firepower. :toast

hmmm...every had a gun pulled on you? When I did I was pretty sure I wasn't Dirty Harry so I gave him my wallet and kept my piece to myself.

People that rob or commit crimes with guns usually don't think about or care if other pedistrians have weapons.

Well, back in 2005 I had a home invasion incident at 2:30 AM when a dude rammed in my front door. Hearing the break in I quickly grabbed my shot gun and staked out a corner. As soon as the guy crossed I tapped on my gun light and held him at gunpoint until the police arrived. If you learn how to use the damn gun and take advantage of things like cover and layout it gives you an advantage in these situations.

at least from the sounds of it its only a flesh wound to the calf, so he should be ok relatively quickly.

Insinuating huh?

THESES SITUATIONS, are totally different.

Admirable story, but totally different then someone rolling up on you with a gun pointed at your ass. Hmmm, cover...nope, know how to use gun, check. Quit being self centered.

I could of reach for mine but lets just say I like living.

Yeah, your right that shit was weak. When you get called something everyday it sort of loses it's effect. You are an uneducated hillbilly though.

To answer your question, yes I have had a gun pulled on me and I gave the guy my wallet.

I've also been in a situation where a friend of mine had a gun pulled on him and I was able to draw mine and hold the guy to a Mexican standoff while we waited for the police. I was licensed, he wasn't.

That's besides the point. Sure there are those out there that don't care if other people are packing, but you cant deny that it still curbs their intent a bit when someone around could possibly have a concealed weapon.

You take away the guns from law abiding people and suddenly the criminal with the gun doesn't have to think twice about what he is planning because he would know that he is the only one with a gun.

Guns will never be taken away in the USA. There's this thing called the Second Amendment that prevents our government from taking them away. The minute people give up their right to bear arms in this country is the same moment when we will be at our weakest and most vulnerable.

Despite the myths, not everyone in Texas is armed.
