The Spurs are giong to finish 2nd in the West. I have done the math, studied the schedules and that is where they will land.

So who would you prefer to see in the 1st round of the Playoffs?

There will likely be 4 teams with either 50 or 51 wins:

Mavs
Jazz
Hornets
Portland

One of these teams will be the 8th seed and 1 of the other 3 will likely be the 7th seed.

Who would you prefer to face in the first round of these 4?

In order of who I would like the Spurs to play:

Portland, Hornets, Jazz, Mavs

Not the Jazz and not the Hornets. Dallas always seems to play very well against us but I think the Spurs would still take them out. Portland is a young and energetic team and very good at home but I think the Spurs would knock them out as well. So either Portland or Dallas probably...but I think Dallas will finish 8th anyway...

Mavs or Jazz to keep the other two playing L.A. I think we match up well with these two the best. It would be nice to knock out the Hornets early, which would require Manu 100%.

Especially since we still owe the Mavericks for 2006.

Any of the above...doesn't matter. If the Spurs hold on to the 2 seed, that means they are back in top gear, and ready to roll, along with Manu back in silver and black. No worries.

Portland. They won't be easier or less good per se, but they have no playoff experience together as a team and very little or none as invidual players. I think that's something the Spurs could easily capitalize on.

I prefer Portland as far as percentage of winning the 1st round.

I think the Mavs will be the 7th seed, they are desperate to not play LA and will play their hearts out till the last second of regular season.

My local paper has the NBA standings ranked 1-8; if the playoffs started today, the Spurs would be playing the Jazz! :o

1. Lakers (hopefully will get upset before they meet SA) Least favorite
2. Utah (Hate watching games played in Utah)
3. Houston (Always tough against the spurs)
4. Dallas (can only take so many 1-2 pt games in a series)
5. New Orleans (Please do not make me watch CP3 go into seizures again)
6. Denver (Spurs are in their head when comes playoff time)
7. Portland (I really do not mind playing these guys cause their youth and inexperience)

How times have changed. It used to be that the Spurs and their fans have no preference in terms of opponents. That is so not the case anymore. Now, the Spurs are trying to avoid teams regardless if it's an odd year.

The Spurs would be relatively easy opponent for the Blazers. I doubt it would take us more than 5 games to dispatch of the Spurs.

:lol Portland is not even close to an elite team once away from portland or have you not noticed...You do realize you have to win road games in the playoffs, right?

I don't think anyone cares who the Spurs play. If you could handpick who you want of course it would be better, but no one is trying to "avoid".

That would be like saying which seed do you want the Spurs to finish and we say 1, and you say " how times have changed, used to be that Spurs did not care what seed they were..."

A Spurs finals appearance after beating Dallas, Utah and LA would be pretty sweet. Dallas because we would spank their Harris and Diopless team in a series. Utah because Utah is still owed many years of payback for the Robinson era. And LA because FTL.

We'll have to play the Lakers in the end and that's inevitable. But we need a smooth road on our way to the finals. I'd say playing the Mavericks in the first round would be a great start for us. If we can't get the Mavs then Hornets would be a good match for us aswell. I definitely don't want to see the Jazz because 7 series first rounders tend to have a negative effect mentally.

Unless Ginobili and Duncan are 100%, and I doubt very much they will be, I don't see the Spurs getting past the first round.

Its going to take an act of God to keep the Lakers out of the Finals. With that said...lets just go with whatever cards are dealt.
