Center gets hurt during practice

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento Kings center Brad Miller will be sidelined for at least a month after breaking his left leg during a light shooting drill Saturday.

Miller, a two-time All-Star, missed Sacramento's last six games with a bruised calf. He was expected to return for Sunday's game against Houston -- but in the latest bizarre injury in a long franchise history for the Kings, Miller broke his left fibula during a non-contact drill.

The bone will heal in four to six weeks, according to team doctors, and Miller should be able to ride a stationary bike in 10 days. But the playoffs begin in six weeks, and the Kings aren't sure whether he'll be ready.

Miller is averaging 15.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists in his second season with the Kings, who acquired him in a trade with Indiana. His emergence as an elite passer and rebounder encouraged the Kings' decision to trade Chris Webber to the Philadelphia 76ers two weeks ago.

Sacramento has been plagued by injuries during six consecutive winning seasons, and this winter has been no exception. Every key player on Sacramento's roster has missed at least one game with an injury.

The Kings already lost guard Bobby Jackson for the rest of the regular season when he underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist in early January. Peja Stojakovic, the NBA's second-leading scorer last season, has been sidelined or ineffective since straining his hamstring last month, while Cuttino Mobley missed two recent games with a strained lower back.

Thats gotta suck for the Kings. I'm not a SAC fan, but I hate it whenever a player gets hurt. It sucks, but its part of the game, I guess.

Damn, that makes my pickup of Brian Skinner earlier this week in FSPI a rather shrewd move.

I remeber you whining about the Chris Webber trade and how you should have kept Miller.

Hey Brad, break a...nevermind. Sucks for Sacto, but at least they'll get to see what the new guys can do.

Yeah I've got JO in one of my leagues, not sounding too hot up in Indy either.

In the real basketball world, this isn't going to be that bad for the Kings -- Skinner will continue to come close to matching Miller's output playing better D.

Artest is going to fit in pretty well next year....

They wouldn't have to trade Peja.

Wouldn't have to, might want to.

tell me something, is skinner really capable fantasy-wise, because i was able to get him in both leagues that i have b-rad in?

so?......

I would keep him, he's their only center right now and he's always had good per-minute production.

Now he's got all the minutes he can take.

Kona

oh yeah, i'm going to keep him for sure, i was trying to get a read on how optimistic i could be about keeping 1st place. getting really close in both leagues now.

Skinner will come very close to matching Miller's output.

Be confident.

Skinner won't match the point production of Miller, but he will meet his rebounding numbers and exceed his block numbers. Of course, his FT shooting sucks :(

That's not half as shrewd as starting a league with a wing man.

Kona

yeah, that's my real concern though. i lead the league in blocks and rebounds by a huge margin..

ft% i'm 8 of 12. that is going to take a hit. oh well, it is better to have and not need than to need and not have.

but....i also have peja, so maybe his points will increase enough..

Wing man? Huh?

I don't know much about Miller's injury but can someone explain how it's different than Horry's? Both are non-displaced fractures of the fibula, but Horry is still playing and Miller will be out over a month?

Sac sucks anyways.
